Job Description

Horizon Air is a regional airline that operates as a subsidiary of Alaska Airlines, providing passenger and cargo services primarily across the Pacific Northwest and other West Coast destinations. Known for its commitment to safety, reliability, and exceptional customer service, Horizon Air employs dedicated airport teams who collaborate seamlessly to ensure smooth travel experiences. The teams work diligently to assist guests by managing everything from curbside to cabin, focusing on delivering remarkable experiences consistently. Operating within busy airport environments, Horizon Air values individuals who are welcoming to people from diverse backgrounds, can think quickly on their feet, and are adaptable to flexible scheduling demands.

The position available is for a Ramp & Customer Service Agent based in Eugene, OR. This role is an integral part of Horizon Air’s airport operations, involving a diverse range of responsibilities that encompass both customer-facing interactions and physical ramp duties. The Ramp & Customer Service Agent acts as the front-line representative assisting guests with inquiries, baggage handling, ticketing, and passenger boarding processes. The role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions performing below-wing functions such as transporting baggage and cargo, loading and offloading luggage, aircraft marshaling, pushback operations, and aircraft deicing.

In addition to these physical tasks, the agent will perform aircraft grooming, conduct security searches, and manage boarding duties including assisting and directing guests, making announcements, and processing standby and upgrade requests. They are also responsible for processing and securing luggage, maintaining luggage claim files, and addressing issues related to damaged or delayed baggage. This hybrid customer service and ramp maintenance role requires flexibility, physical stamina, and effective communication skills to meet the demands of a fast-paced airport environment.

This is a part-time regular position offering a starting wage of $16.24 per hour. Horizon Air champions a competitive total rewards package that includes comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, a generous 401k match program, annual bonus opportunities, and paid time off including generous holiday benefits. Employees also benefit from free standby travel privileges on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air, encouraging both personal and professional growth through travel opportunities.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to lift consistently up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, and are expected to participate in paid training that may include overnight travel. Additional certification requirements may apply depending on the work location, such as USPS Mail Handling Certification and airport security clearance involving a SIDA badge. Horizon Air’s hiring practices emphasize equal employment opportunity, prohibiting discrimination and harassment, and ensuring a supportive environment for all employees. Individuals looking to contribute to a dynamic airline team and grow their career in aviation customer service and ramp operations are encouraged to apply and become part of Horizon Air’s mission to deliver safe, caring, and efficient air travel experiences.
