Job Description

The Raley's Companies is a distinguished, purpose-driven retail organization that has maintained its family-owned status since its inception in 1935. Headquartered in West Sacramento, California, Raley's has expanded its presence over the years and now proudly operates more than 235 locations across four states and four Tribal Nations. The company encompasses eight notable banners including Raley's, Bel Air, Nob Hill Foods, Raley's O-N-E Market, Bashas', Food City, AJ's Fine Foods, and Bashas' Diné Market. This diverse footprint allows Raley's to serve a broad community with a strong commitment to quality, exceptional service, and sustainable practices that benefit team members, local communities, and the planet alike.

Raley's is much more than a traditional grocery provider; it is a trusted source for nutrition and wellness, driven by the mission to change how the world eats, one plate at a time. Each banner reflects this mission by offering high-quality fresh products, affordable pricing, and personalized customer service. The company is dedicated to food transparency and education, empowering customers to make healthier and informed food choices. Raley's commitment has cultivated a reputation for innovation within the food retail industry, combining a legacy of family values with a forward-thinking approach to wellness and community care.

The Production Bakery Decorator role is essential in maintaining Raley's renowned bakery standards. Under general supervision, this position specializes in the decoration of bakery products by applying a variety of decorating techniques such as cake icing, filling, and assembling pastries. The dynamic nature of this role requires the decorator to operate and master various decorating tools and equipment including pastry bags, bowl knives, and industrial mixers. The decorator works primarily on a production assembly line in the Cake Room, handling a high volume of baked goods to ensure appearance and taste quality remain at the top-tier standards that customers expect.

This job entails significant physical activity such as moving bakery racks, mixing large quantities of icing, and handling products that range in weight. Precision and skill in pastry decoration are paramount as decorators are responsible for producing beautifully iced and decorated cakes, cream rolls, jelly rolls, and pastries like napoleons. Additionally, decorators are tasked with maintaining cleanliness of their workstation and tools, preparing ingredients, setting up production lines, and following all safety and hygiene protocols strictly.

Employment in this role is year-round, with shifts available throughout the week which may include weekends and overtime. Flexibility in scheduling and the ability to work both day and night shifts is required to meet production demands. The position offers a collaborative work environment that values teamwork, communication, and a commitment to excellence. The Physical demands are notable, with extensive standing, lifting, and maneuvering of bakery products and equipment, suitable for individuals who have good physical stamina and dexterity.

Successful candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED, be at least 18 years old, and able to pass both a physical ability test and a drug screening. Strong communication skills, the ability to work under deadlines, and a proactive attitude towards team collaboration and productivity are also expected. This role is ideal for those passionate about bakery arts who desire to contribute to a company dedicated to quality and community nourishment while working in a supportive and enriching environment.
