Job Description
Baptist Health System is a distinguished healthcare provider with over 120 years of dedicated service to the community. It operates an extensive network that includes six full-service hospitals, a specialized children's hospital with a dedicated pediatric emergency unit, a comprehensive cancer care network, fitness and rehabilitation centers, a physician network, imaging centers, ambulatory services, and the Baptist School of Health Professions. With a mission centered on compassionate service inspired by faith, Baptist Health System strives to help people achieve health for life, making a positive difference through integrated and high-quality care.
The role of the Radiology Manager at North Central Baptist Hospital, part of the Baptist Health System, is a critical leadership position responsible for managing and supervising the Imaging Department. This role involves assessing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating departmental operations and personnel according to the institution's policies. The Radiology Manager plays a vital role in ensuring efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care within the imaging services. The position requires strong general management skills, people leadership, and business unit management capabilities to meet the strategic objectives of the hospital and overall Baptist Health System.
In this leadership role, the Radiology Manager assists in establishing goals and objectives that align with the hospital's strategic plans and oversees the department's operating and capital budgets. The manager is responsible for the daily operations of the department, managing staff performance, making objective decisions, and supporting the system's mission and policies. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, effective communication across all organizational levels, and fostering an environment that embraces change and continuous improvement.
People management is a significant part of the role, where the Radiology Manager selects and supports personnel, provides coaching, responds to employee needs, and promotes team cohesion. Recognizing and leveraging employee strengths, facilitating consensus, minimizing turnover, and managing performance evaluations are key duties. These responsibilities are essential in maintaining a skilled, motivated, and stable workforce that can deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
On the business unit side, the manager aides in developing departmental policies and procedures, provides professional and technical guidance, maintains documentation, ensures the availability of supplies and equipment, and implements safety measures to protect patients from various hazards including radiation. Resource efficiency and patient-specific needs are prioritized, along with maintaining a safe working environment. The manager also actively participates in performance improvement activities, contributing to ongoing quality enhancement efforts.
The ideal candidate for this position must have graduated from an accredited Radiology or Nuclear Medicine Program with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree as a minimum educational requirement. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have at least seven years of technical experience, including five years in a supervisory role, with additional preferred experience as a Senior Tech or coordinator in Imaging. Licensure requirements include a current Texas Medical Board (TMB) license and registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or an equivalent credential depending on specialty. Multi-modality licensure in radiological specialties is preferred.
The role requires certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, with the AHA Healthcare Provider BLS certification to be obtained within 60 days of hire. This ensures the manager is prepared to maintain clinical standards and safety protocols.
In addition to a meaningful leadership role, Baptist Health System offers a comprehensive benefits package, underscoring their commitment to employee well-being and professional growth. The benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; a 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer match; generous paid time off; career development and continuing education opportunities; health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts; an employee assistance program; employee discount programs; and a variety of voluntary benefits such as pet insurance, legal insurance, accident and critical illness insurance, long-term care, elder and childcare services, and auto and home insurance.
This employment opportunity offers a chance to be part of a respected and mission-driven healthcare organization that values its people and community, supporting its staff with resources and benefits that promote a balanced and rewarding professional life. Candidates seeking to contribute to a caring team environment and make a meaningful impact are encouraged to join the Baptist Health System team as a Radiology Manager.
