The Radar Analysis IPT Lead position at Leidos Defense is a pivotal role requiring a blend of technical expertise and leadership capabilities. This role is not a purely managerial position; the incumbent will be actively engaged in hands-on radar performance modeling and analysis activities for an advanced radar system. The candidate will lead a small team of radar analysts, guiding them through complex sensor and radar-oriented problem-solving tasks while contributing directly to the technical execution.
The Radar Analysis IPT Lead will utilize and adapt existing radar modeling and simulation tools, such as MATLAB, Python-based frameworks, and C++ models, to assess detection, tracking, and overall system performance in realistic operational conditions. A deep understanding of radar physics, radar signal processing fundamentals, and practical methods for verifying radar performance is essential. The incumbent will also be responsible for modifying and validating radar performance models to accommodate updated RF architectures, antenna and beamforming modifications, and processing chain enhancements.
Additionally, the role requires detailed analysis of detection and tracking algorithms, including CFAR variants, threshold selection, Kalman-based tracking filters, and evaluation of trade-offs involving dwell time, Pulse Repetition Frequency (PRF), waveform design, and coherent integration effects. Identifying algorithmic sensitivities that impact overall system performance risk is a critical aspect of this position.
Beyond technical responsibilities, the Radar Analysis IPT Lead will provide leadership to the analysis team while remaining the primary contributor, reviewing and approving analytical outputs and technical reports. Presenting quantitative radar performance assessments to program leadership and stakeholders, and delivering clear, data-driven recommendations to inform system design decisions, rounds out the leadership component of this role.

Proficiency with MATLAB and strong communication skills are essential. Preferred qualifications include experience in tool transition between programs, familiarity with hardware performance factors like noise figure and antenna gain patterns, and experience in correlating simulations with flight or range test data.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent experience
- 4-8 years of experience in hands-on radar performance analysis or Master's degree with 2-6 years experience or PhD with 1-4 years experience
- Proficiency in MATLAB for radar performance modeling
- Good communication skills for working in a collaborative environment and interfacing with customers
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to possess and maintain a Final Secret Clearance
- Residency in or willingness to relocate to Huntsville, AL area

Job Duties
- Directly execute radar performance modeling using established tool suites (MATLAB, Python-based frameworks, C++ models)
- Adapt legacy radar performance tools to current system architecture and requirements
- Assess applicability of previously developed radar performance models to current design
- Modify and extend modeling frameworks to reflect updated RF architectures, antenna/beamforming differences, processing chain updates
- Analyze detection performance (CFAR variants, threshold selection)
- Evaluate tracking filter performance (e.g., Kalman-based estimators)
- Assess dwell time, PRF selection, waveform tradeoffs, and coherent integration impacts
- Identify algorithm sensitivities that drive system-level performance risk
- Lead a small radar analysis team while remaining the primary technical contributor
- Review and approve analysis products and technical reports
- Present quantitative performance assessments to program leadership and customers
- Provide clear, data-driven recommendations to influence system design decisions
