Job Description

Safe Harbor Marinas, LLC (SHM) is the world's largest owner and operator of marinas, dedicated to delivering exceptional services to the vibrant boating community through an extensive network of marinas. As a growing company, SHM prides itself on fostering a dynamic and passionate workforce led by some of the sharpest minds in the marina industry. The organization operates with a commitment to critical thinking, outstanding service, and relationship-building with customers and teammates alike. SHM offers its employees professional education, extensive training opportunities, and the chance to collaborate with experienced marina professionals to continuously develop their skills and knowledge. The company also provides its eligible employees with a comprehensive benefits package that includes 401(k) plans, orthodontic coverage, paid time off, paid holidays, paid parental leave, fertility assistance, relocation opportunities, paid uniforms, boating discounts, tuition reimbursement programs, tool repurchasing programs, and specialized ABYC training.

The Yard Hand position at Safe Harbor Marinas plays a crucial role in supporting the service department to ensure smooth and efficient marina operations. Also known as Rack/Valet Attendant, this role involves performing a variety of hands-on tasks such as hauling, blocking, and launching boats, which are vital to customer satisfaction and marina functionality. The Yard Hand is responsible for routine boat maintenance activities including waxing, bottom painting, and zinc replacement, which help keep boats in top condition. This role requires close cooperation with the Yard Foreman and other team members to assist wherever necessary. Operation of heavy yard machinery such as 75-ton travelifts, 35-ton hydraulic trailers, forklifts, and power washers is a key component of the job, demanding skill and safety consciousness. Maintaining the marina grounds and ensuring cleanliness are integral to providing a welcoming environment for boaters.

Safety is a top priority at SHM, and the Yard Hand is expected to adhere strictly to safety and environmental protocols. They must wear appropriate personal protective equipment, promptly report any accidents or environmental incidents, and complete all related safety training. Physically, the job demands the ability to work in diverse weather conditions, access confined spaces, ascend and descend ladders, and lift heavy loads up to 50 pounds. Prior experience in a marina setting, forklift operation, and basic boat handling are considered advantageous.

Ideal candidates for the Yard Hand role should demonstrate eagerness, respect, humility, and a positive attitude in all interactions. A strong bias toward action, effective communication skills, adherence to company policies, and a dedication to providing high-quality service are essential traits. Adaptability to changing priorities, problem-solving capabilities, and the motivation to put in extra effort complete the profile of a successful team member at Safe Harbor Marinas. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable industry experience while contributing to one of the leading companies in the marina sector, supported by a robust benefits package and a supportive, growth-oriented work environment.
