The General Manager role at The Lodge at Big Springs, part of the Northstar resort managed by Vail Resorts, is a full-time, year-round leadership position with a competitive salary starting from $72,000 to $76,000 plus an annual bonus. The Lodge is a cornerstone of the Northstar experience, offering high-energy, high-volume mountain dining with a focus on great food, genuine hospitality, and stunning views. As General Manager, you will lead a diverse and talented team of over 50 employees, shaping the culture and driving a service standard that leaves a lasting impression on guests. This position requires not only operational management skills but also the ability to develop people, foster team collaboration, and maintain high standards in food quality, safety, and overall guest experience. You will be responsible for all aspects of the lodge's operations, including financial performance, labor management, compliance with safety and sanitation regulations, and partnership with resort leadership. Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of restaurant or hospitality management experience
  • Passion for developing people and building effective teams
  • Experience managing high-volume operations with responsibility for service, labor, and financial results
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and exercise good judgment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational software
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays during peak seasons
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • RBS alcohol certification and Food Safe Manager certification (company provided)
  • Physical ability to lift and carry over 40 lbs

Job Duties

  • Build and lead a diverse, high-performing team of 50+ through hiring, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, and performance development
  • Create a workplace culture grounded in accountability, inclusion, service, and continuous improvement
  • Deliver a consistently excellent guest experience in a fast-paced mountain resort environment
  • Own operational performance across service, food quality, sanitation, safety, inventory, labor, payroll, tip disbursements, and revenue reporting
  • Plan and manage labor in alignment with business levels, ensuring smart cost management and operational readiness throughout the season
  • Champion safety for employees and guests through strong practices, safety meetings, and a clean, well-maintained operation
  • Keep facilities and equipment in excellent condition through regular inspection, preventative maintenance, and timely follow-up
  • Partner with resort and food and beverage leadership to share insights, strengthen operations, and pursue continuous improvement
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, food safety standards, sanitation requirements, OSHA expectations, and applicable regulations
