This role focuses on the position of a Quality Assurance Inspector, a critical function within Coherent's manufacturing operations. The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for verifying that products meet stringent quality standards and specifications before they reach customers. This includes performing detailed inspections on a variety of components such as DH panels, MMC castings, and precision machined parts using sophisticated measuring tools like Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments. The inspector must maintain meticulous records of inspections and tests, generate data collection spreadsheets, and reconcile documentation for final product shipment. They also play an essential role in testing incoming raw materials to ensure compliance with quality criteria. The position requires adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process control plans, and work instructions, emphasizing accuracy and thoroughness.
Interfacing directly with customers by preparing Inspection Reports and Certificates of Conformance is a notable aspect of this role, reinforcing transparency and trust in the product quality. Additionally, the Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for calibrating measurement tools to ensure accuracy and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Job Requirements
- 2+ years of experience working in Quality Assurance inspection or equivalent education/technical training
- Associate's degree or some college education preferred
- Experience using Zeiss Calypso, PowerInspect and PCDMIS CMM software highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend engineering blueprints and/or customer product drawings
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of measuring tools including but not limited to CMMs, calipers, micrometers, tape measures, thread gages, surface roughness tester
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic metrology concepts
- Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide including post-elementary math skills and ability to convert decimals to fractions and vice-versa
- Demonstrated ability to read and write using the English language, as well as the ability to converse and comprehend using the English language
- Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook
- Able to frequently lift push/pull objects up to 50 pounds repeatedly
- Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility
- Ability to work productively in an environment with a wide range of temperatures
- Able to walk/stand a minimum of eight (8) hours per day
- 20/20 vision or better (the use of prescription glasses/contact lenses acceptable)
- Ability to work at elevated heights on scissor lift (or similar) performing product inspections
- Comply with site EHS procedures and Corporate EHS standards

Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree or some college education preferred
- 2+ years of experience working in Quality Assurance inspection or equivalent education/technical training
- Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend engineering blueprints and/or customer product drawings
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of measuring tools including but not limited to CMMs, calipers, micrometers, tape measures, thread gages, surface roughness tester
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic metrology concepts
- Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide including post-elementary math skills and ability to convert decimals to fractions and vice-versa
- Demonstrated ability to read and write using the English language (proven elementary reading and writing skills) as well as the ability to converse and comprehend using the English language
- Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook
- ASQ Quality Technician, ASQ Quality Inspector, ASQ Calibration Technician certification preferred
- Demonstrated ability to accurately and precisely measure materials using standard weights and measures
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance knowledge and application preferred
- Keen attention to detail
- Able to work effectively with minimal supervision in a team environment
Job Duties
- Inspect products including but not limited to DH panels, MMC castings, and precision machined parts using gages, calipers, micrometers, tape measures, Coordinate Measuring Machines, scales, oscilloscopes, magnifiers, dye penetrant and vision for conformance to specification
- Generate spreadsheets and inspection sheets for data collection
- Keep accurate written documentation and inspection records including database entries
- Reconcile final inspection documentation for product shipment
- Test incoming raw materials
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), process control plans (PCPs), work instructions and guidelines
- Interact directly with customers by creating Inspection Reports and Certificates of Conformance as quality documentation shipped with parts to customers
- Calibrate hand tools (calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks) as needed as part of a measuring device calibration program to ensure tools are making accurate measurements and worn tools are repaired or replaced
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment
- Address all safety related issues immediately by informing the appropriate individual(s)
- Comply with PPE requirements at all times
