The role of NDT Technician II at Applied Composites centers around performing ultrasonic testing on fabricated composite parts, specifically those featuring laminate and sandwich construction. This position requires the application of advanced techniques to detect discontinuities such as cracks, inclusions, bonding defects, or porosity within composite products. The technician will be integral in ensuring the integrity and reliability of aerospace and defense components by meticulously conducting tests according to detailed work orders, test procedures, and product acceptance criteria. Responsibilities include equipment calibration and adjustment, the application of coupling mediums, operation of testing transducers, and interpreting cathode ray tube imaging to identify potential defects.
This role also involves preparing comprehensive reports on test findings and may extend to setting up and operating computerized inspection equipment. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills for collaboration and report preparation, along with formal computer training covering software such as MS Word, Access, Outlook, and Project. The ideal applicant will have between three to five years of ultrasonic testing experience in composite materials as well as an Ultrasonic Inspector Level III Certificate. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, crouch, kneel, bend, reach, and lift weights of up to 25-50 pounds. In addition to technical skills, the position demands keen sensory abilities including close vision, color perception, peripheral and depth perception, hearing, and manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment. Applied Composites offers a full suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability coverage, accident and critical illness insurance, life insurance options, employee assistance plans, retirement savings with matching, tuition reimbursement, and professional development opportunities. This position is classified under an employment type that includes day shifts and overtime as needed, with a focus on maintaining compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), meaning applicants must be U.S. persons such as U.S. Citizens or permanent residents.
