The Quality Technician role at AKG is a critical position responsible for ensuring product compliance and supporting continuous improvement in quality inspection processes. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in CMM programming, Faro Arm operation, and laboratory testing, combined with a solid understanding of blueprint interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles. This full-time position operates during the working hours of 7 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday, and offers a hands-on role within a manufacturing setting. As a Quality Technician, you will be performing complex dimensional inspections, contamination testing, and metrology programming to maintain high standards of product quality. You will be expected to use precision inspection tools, collaborate with engineers and production teams, and contribute to problem-solving and quality assurance initiatives. This role also includes responsibilities such as equipment calibration, documentation, generating inspection reports, and supporting prototype inspections. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing quality roles with programming or lab testing
- Ability to interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Proficiency in CMM programming and Faro Arm operation
- Competency in Excel and inspection software
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work assigned 7 am-3 pm shifts, Monday to Friday, and overtime when required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s degree in Engineering or Metrology preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing quality roles involving programming or lab testing
- Advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and dimensional inspection principles
- Proficiency with precision inspection tools, metrology software, and Excel
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to multitask and manage complex inspection assignments
- Team-oriented with leadership potential to guide junior inspectors
Job Duties
- Program and operate CMM and Faro Arm to measure prototype and production components
- Verify dimensional features against CAD models, blueprints, and specifications
- Perform laboratory testing, calibration of measuring/torquing equipment, and ensure cleanliness standards
- Record and analyze inspection results in inspection software, Excel, and company databases
- Generate Inspection Reports, SNCRs, and throughput logs
- Support prototype kickoff inspections and create feature documentation
- Ensure inspection and lab equipment are calibrated, maintained, and properly used
