This opportunity is for a QA/QC Field Inspector, a crucial role responsible for supervising and coordinating all quality control activities on construction sites. The QA/QC Field Inspector ensures that projects not only meet but exceed client and owner quality objectives through meticulous inspection, testing, and documentation processes. This role requires frequent interaction with field management, subcontractors, and third-party inspectors to guarantee adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements. Emphasis on safety, precision, and quality assurance is paramount as the inspector will conduct site inspections, review technical documents, manage non-conformance controls, and prepare detailed quality reports. The position involves extensive physical activity, including standing, lifting, climbing, and manual dexterity, often in varying weather conditions both indoors and outdoors. The employment type is full-time, with shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and certifications obtained. This role demands both technical expertise and the ability to communicate effectively across project teams to uphold the company's high-quality construction standards.

Job Requirements

Must be able to frequently lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50lbs
Must be able to stand for 90% of an 8-12 hour shift
Must be able to climb 30' ladders and 60' stairs while wearing a 30lb harness and tool bags
Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel and crawl for up to 30 minutes at a time, multiple times a day
Must have good manual dexterity to operate small hand tools throughout an 8-12 hour shift
Must have good vision and able to see using required safety glasses
Must have good hearing and able to wear hearing protection as needed
Must be able to work full shifts in various indoor and outdoor weather conditions
Must be able to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools ranging from a few ounces to 35lbs throughout an 8-12 hour shift
Must be able to follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Must be able to perform demanding physical tasks while wearing a harness and tool bags weighing up to 30lbs for most of the shift

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or engineering technologist diploma preferred
2+ years related experience preferred
ACI or Canadian equivalent certification required within six months of hire
Experience or training in environmental regulatory and construction industry compliance preferred
Developing understanding of construction quality standards and processes
Strong organization and communication skills
Willingness and ability to learn and grow in environmental monitoring, technical writing and documentation
Exceptional communication skills
Previous experience with MTO project requirements would be an asset
Knowledge of quality control and assurance management systems
Multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical fields as it relates to construction of medical or institutional facilities

Job Duties

Implement inspection and testing plan, and quality plan procedures required to build a quality project conforming to design, specification, relevant standards and codes
Plan and coordinate all required inspections and testing in coordination with field management and project schedule
Assist all 3rd parties conducting on-site quality or technical review, audit, test or inspection of work, materials or equipment
Prepare weekly quality site activity report and monthly quality summary report
Review all test, inspection, site observation or surveillance reports, and record any deficiencies and non-conformities
Supervise quality control functions including internal inspection of work and completion of all related QC check sheets
Review current drawings, design change notices, supplemental site instructions, requests for information and red-line drawings and report any deficiencies
Conduct regular site inspection for compliance with design drawings, project specifications, applicable standards and codes, and inspections of receiving and storage of materials
Provide training, tools and techniques to enable field staff, suppliers and subcontractors to achieve required quality standards
Manage site document control and control on non-conforming products
