The role of Quality Control Technician at PPG in Strongsville, OH, is a vital position within their production and quality assurance team. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, the technician plays a key role in ensuring that powder coatings meet or exceed customer specifications. This role is essential for maintaining the high standards of quality that PPG promises its customers. As a Quality Control Technician, you will work closely with production teams to monitor and guide product quality, making necessary adjustments to processes based on testing results. The position requires a proactive approach to quality management, supporting continuous improvement initiatives aimed at total customer satisfaction.

This role operates on a Monday through Friday schedule with shifts from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, potentially involving occasional overtime and weekend coverage. The technician is responsible for performing various scientific analyses to evaluate raw materials, in-process items, and finished goods. This includes compiling and interpreting data to verify compliance with company standards or to identify any deviations that need corrective action. Additional responsibilities include establishing specifications for assays, writing standard operating procedures, assisting engineers with production-related inspections, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting problem resolution efforts alongside cross-functional teams.

Job Duties

  • perform various scientific analyses to evaluate quality of raw materials, in-process materials and finished goods
  • compile interpret and document statistical data from testing processes
  • establish specifications for conducting assays and write standard operating procedures
  • assist engineers in production-related and inspection jobs
  • assist in monitoring quality of finished goods and make required adjustments

  • maintain safety program to minimize accidents and ensure a safe working environment
