Job Description
Hubbard Construction is a highly respected leader in the heavy civil construction industry in Florida, proudly serving the region since 1920. Over the past 100 years, Hubbard Construction has built a strong legacy with a committed team of professional men and women delivering hundreds of public and private projects that have significantly contributed to Florida's infrastructure growth and development. As one of Florida's largest heavy civil construction companies, Hubbard Construction specializes in complex projects including highway constructions, site development, paving, utility and drainage systems, surveying, and state-of-the-art bridge building. The company operates through multiple delivery systems such as design-build, bid-build, public-private partnerships, and design-build finance, enabling it to adapt and meet diverse client needs efficiently and effectively.
Hubbard Construction is a subsidiary of Eurovia, a global company operating through an extensive network of 330 agencies and 770 production sites across 17 countries. This connection provides Hubbard with extensive resources, expertise, and state-of-the-art technology, further reinforcing their capacity to manage and execute large-scale infrastructure projects. With a rich heritage and ongoing commitment to excellence, Hubbard Construction continues to be a key player in Florida’s construction landscape and beyond.
We are currently seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our dedicated team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the quality and safety of asphalt mixes used in Florida’s roadways, contributing directly to the durability and longevity of highways and other public infrastructure projects. The Quality Control Technician will conduct tests on state-approved asphalt mixes for county, state, and federal highways, requiring proficiency in a wide range of testing methods and equipment.
This is not an entry-level position; we require candidates with strong experience and an educational background suitable for the technical demands of the role. The successful individual will possess Level I and Level II Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) roadway certifications, ensuring compliance with state standards and regulations. The role demands excellent mathematical abilities and communication skills, as accurate calculations, precise reporting, and effective coordination with supervisors and fellow employees are essential. Candidates must also maintain an acceptable driving record and be prepared for a variable work schedule that may include nights and weekends.
The Quality Control Technician will be actively involved in tasks such as testing asphalt roadway density, monitoring rolling patterns, measuring yield, performing field measurements, and cutting cores. Accurate record-keeping is a significant component of this role to ensure thorough and compliant documentation of testing processes and results. The work environment primarily consists of outdoor settings, often involving exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and proximity to heavy machinery and moving equipment, which requires constant alertness and adherence to safety procedures.
Physical fitness and stamina are necessary for success in this role, as technicians must be capable of standing for extended periods, stooping, bending, crouching, operating hand tools, and lifting materials weighing up to 90 pounds on a frequent basis, and potentially up to 150 pounds with assistance. The role offers a competitive salary reflective of experience and certifications and includes a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, wellness, and financial security of our employees.
Joining Hubbard Construction not only means contributing to meaningful projects that shape the future of Florida’s infrastructure but also becoming part of a company committed to equal employment opportunities and a drug-free workplace. We seek skilled professionals who are ready to take on the challenges and rewards of a dynamic construction environment. If you are motivated by quality, precision, and teamwork, and possess the required experience and certifications, we encourage you to apply to become a vital contributor to Hubbard Construction’s century-long tradition of excellence.
