The role of QC Technician III at Orthofix is critical to maintaining the highest standards of product quality and compliance. This position is responsible for performing detailed inspections and testing of products at multiple stages of production. This includes raw materials, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies, ensuring each conforms to specific quality and procedural requirements. The QC Technician III is tasked with interpreting engineering drawings and schematic diagrams to complete inspections accurately. They apply a wide range of quality control inspection tools to verify that all components and devices meet specifications and function correctly. Key responsibilities include recording and interpreting test data, performing and documenting QA inspections, auditing manufacturing processes for compliance, and reviewing device history records to ensure product conformity before release to finished goods.

Additionally, the QC Technician III plays an integral role in quality assurance by initiating non-conformance reports, assisting in corrective and preventive action programs, and training other QC technicians on revised procedures. The position also involves investigating product complaints and processing quality reports using computerized databases. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize inspections to support production schedules efficiently. The anticipated base pay for this position in California ranges from $26.36 to $33.00 per hour, supplemented by bonuses and benefits. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • seven years or more related experience
  • knowledge of GMP (QSR) and/or ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 regulations
  • medical device manufacturing experience
  • cleanroom manufacturing experience
  • experience with common inspection tools
  • ability to read blueprint drawings
  • knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • experience with inspection techniques
  • knowledge of statistical sampling plans
  • strong attention to detail
  • ability to prioritize inspections and job duties
  • good verbal and written communication
  • ability to interact with all personnel levels
  • ability to work with diverse groups

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • seven years or more related experience
  • knowledge of GMP (QSR) and/or ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 regulations
  • experience in medical device and cleanroom manufacturing
  • experience using common inspection tools like rulers and calipers
  • ability to read blueprint drawings
  • proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • experience with inspection techniques and statistical sampling plans
  • strong attention to detail
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to work well with diverse personnel
  • preferred technical college, associate’s or bachelor’s degree
  • preferred ASQ certifications such as CQI or CQT

Job Duties

  • Interpret engineering drawings and schematic diagrams to complete inspections
  • use a variety of QC inspection instruments
  • record test data and determine pass or fail status
  • perform and document QA inspection and testing activities
  • perform label inspections
  • audit manufacturing processes for compliance and product segregation
  • monitor quality throughout manufacturing and packaging
  • review donor records for compliance
  • compile and review device history records
  • initiate and follow-up on non-conformance reports
  • assist in corrective and preventive actions and document change orders
  • redline and revise specifications to ensure compliance
  • train other QC technicians on procedures
  • investigate and report product complaints
  • fill out and process quality reports
  • assist with special projects as assigned
