The Quality Control Technician role at Shasta Beverages is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the quality assurance programs that uphold the company’s standards. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing all elements of quality programs such as HACCP, food safety records, plant audits, and mock recall programs. The technician will also conduct microbiological tests on current and new ingredients, suppliers, packages, and finished beverage products to validate their quality. This pivotal role supports the Research and Development (R&D) team in launching new products by ensuring that all quality benchmarks are met or exceeded.

The Quality Control Technician must have extensive knowledge of cleaning agents, sanitizers, and applications essential for maintaining sanitary conditions across the production line. The role includes detailed documentation and adherence to procedural standards, batch report management, measuring and mixing procedures, troubleshooting batch variations, and corrective actions on the production line. The technician will also be deeply involved in pest control programs, compliance with federal and state regulations, and quality trend analysis to improve production efficiency. Proficiency with computer applications, especially Microsoft Office programs like Excel and Word, is essential for maintaining records and reporting.

Physically, the role requires the ability to perform tasks such as walking, standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, and frequent use of hands and fingers. The work environment involves exposure to manufacturing and warehouse settings where personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. The noise levels in these environments may vary, especially within manufacturing plants.

Candidates for this position should possess a High School Diploma or GED with 2-3 years of hands-on experience in the carbonated soft drink industry preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, a solid understanding of OSHA training, favorable background checks, and the ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays are essential. Additionally, candidates must be able to provide their own transportation to various company locations. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Maintain all HACCP and food safety records
  • Conduct plant audits and mock recall programs
  • Train plant personnel on quality procedures and programs
  • Perform microbiological testing on ingredients, suppliers, and packaging
  • Provide test data to ensure product quality
  • Test concentrates and beverage products in development and finished products
  • Collaborate with R&D team on new product launches
  • Document cleaning agents and sanitizers applications
  • Fill out and analyze batch reports with accuracy
  • Measure and follow mixing procedures precisely
  • Troubleshoot and correct production line issues
  • Prepare batch tanks including sanitation and odor evaluation
  • Manage internal pest control program and documentation
  • Assist supervisors in resolving quality control issues and tracking trends
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state quality standards
  • Collect and analyze process quality data and trends
  • Use Microsoft Office products for reporting
  • Adhere to OSHA safety training
  • Respond effectively to inquiries and present information to management
