Job Description

Vinci Construction USA is a leading infrastructure construction company known for its commitment to quality, safety, and innovation across a diverse range of construction projects. Operating through subsidiaries such as Blythe Construction, Inc., Hubbard Construction Company, Northeast Paving, Sunmount Paving, and Virginia Paving Company, Vinci Construction USA offers comprehensive construction services that prioritize excellence and customer satisfaction. With a strong presence in the industry, the company emphasizes a collaborative and inclusive workplace environment, promoting equal opportunity for all employees and fostering growth through a range of employee benefits and professional development programs.

The position of Quality Control Technician at Vinci Construction USA is an hourly-rated skilled craft role integral to maintaining and assuring the quality standards of construction projects. This role requires a highly skilled professional who conducts inspections, laboratory testing, and quality assurance tasks across various stages of construction materials and processes. The Quality Control Technician acts as a technical authority on quality control measures, ensuring that materials, production, and workmanship comply with project specifications and regulatory standards, including Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

In this position, the technician is responsible for sampling and conducting visual and laboratory testing of construction materials such as asphalt and aggregates, both at production plants and on job sites. They review mix designs and product specifications, attend to on-site inspections, and provide troubleshooting assistance when quality issues arise. The technician prepares detailed quality control reports, documents findings, and formulates recommendations to resolve or mitigate quality problems efficiently.

The role requires strong communication skills as the technician interacts professionally with plant operators, supervisors, sales teams, contractors, and agency representatives. Attention to detail and a thorough understanding of mix design characteristics for asphalt products are essential for success in this role. Computer proficiency and mathematical skills are necessary for performing accurate calculations and maintaining precise records. The position also demands physical stamina for outdoor work in various weather conditions, involving standing, lifting heavy materials, and navigating uneven terrain.

This position typically requires 3-5 years of experience in field quality control work, along with a high school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education and specialized training are advantageous. A valid driver’s license is necessary, and the candidate must be capable of independent problem-solving and managing multiple concurrent activities on construction sites safely and effectively.

Vinci Construction USA champions a drug-free workplace and promotes diversity through equal employment opportunities, encouraging applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, color, religion, gender, or disability status. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid life insurance, long-term disability, parental and maternity leave, vacation and holiday pay, and various voluntary insurance options. With a focus on employee well-being and professional growth, Vinci Construction USA stands out as an employer of choice in the construction industry, providing a safe, inclusive, and rewarding work environment for its Quality Control Technicians.
