We are currently seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our Salt Lake City plant. As a Quality Control Technician at Contech, you will be responsible for ensuring that our concrete products meet all required specifications, including those set by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), as well as local and company-specific standards.
In this role, you will oversee and document a variety of concrete tests such as air content, slump, temperature, unit weight, and cylinder strength, taking corrective action as necessary to maintain the highest product quality. You will also maintain detailed records of cylinder breaks in compliance with PCI standards and company quality control practices. Your duties include inspecting raw materials and fresh concrete during the batching process to confirm adherence to specifications and ensuring that the proper mix designs are used for each product type. Additionally, you will operate and maintain quality control equipment according to documented procedures and conduct random inspections and documentation of wire cage fabrication. Your role also involves inspecting loads as they leave the plant to verify accuracy and quality, holding monthly quality control training sessions, and maintaining training records for personnel.

Job Requirements
- Preferred two-year technical degree
- Ability to read and understand production drawings, engineered prints, and equipment manuals
- Knowledge of operating and adjusting batching-related equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and leadership abilities
- Demonstrated mechanical troubleshooting skills and ability to make adjustments and basic equipment repairs
- Mathematical ability to calculate mixing proportions and quantities required for molds
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Preferred American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certified Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or ability to obtain within one year
- Preferred PCI Level 2 certification or ability to obtain within one year
