Job Description
Enfield Farms is a well-established food production company specializing in the processing and packaging of fresh fruit products. With a commitment to quality, food safety, and customer satisfaction, Enfield Farms operates in a highly regulated industry that demands strict adherence to USDA standards and other customer-specific requirements. The company's culture emphasizes continuous improvement, teamwork, and upholding high standards of food safety to ensure that consumers receive premium, safe, and consistent products. Employees at Enfield Farms are encouraged to actively participate in maintaining the company's values and contribute to an environment where safety and quality remain the top priorities.
The Quality Control Technician role at Enfield Farms is a vital position responsible for maintaining the high-quality and safety standards required in food production. This full-time, year-round role involves product grading, carrying out quality checks, and monitoring production processes to verify compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines. The technician collects and inspects fruit samples and packaging materials to ensure they meet USDA regulations and customer specifications. They employ both paper and electronic documentation systems, including computers and iPads, to accurately record inspection results, ensuring transparency and traceability in all quality control activities.
Working within the quality leadership framework, the technician communicates inspection findings clearly to supervisors, managers, and team members, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement. The role also includes environmental upkeep responsibilities, such as maintaining a clean and organized workspace following 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain), which are essential for efficient and safe production operations.
This position requires active involvement in enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) among team members, identifying non-conformances and reporting concerns related to food safety and product quality promptly. Quality Control Technicians also handle operational tasks like the verification checks of x-ray and metal detectors and weigh scales to guarantee product integrity, as well as collecting shelf life and retain samples for laboratory testing for pathogens and microbiological contaminants.
Ideal candidates for this role will have relevant experience or a degree in a related field, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and strong communication skills. Bilingual candidates fluent in English and Spanish are preferred, supporting the diverse workforce and facilitating clear communication across all levels of the production team. This role demands physical stamina as it involves standing, walking for extended periods, bending, kneeling, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. The working environment includes cold, non-weather conditions, moderate to loud noise levels requiring hearing protection, and proximity to moving mechanical parts.
The position offers flexible shifts including an AM shift from 4:30 AM to 2:30 PM and a PM shift from 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM, with overtime required based on production needs. Enfield Farms provides a structured workplace committed to safety, quality, and employee development, making it an excellent opportunity for professionals interested in a career in food quality control and production management.
