The Water Business Line (WBL) Quality Control (QC) Team at Garver presents an exciting opportunity for seasoned Process Engineers seeking to elevate their careers by focusing on ensuring the quality of water and wastewater treatment design projects. The role centers on performing comprehensive quality control reviews for diverse water and wastewater treatment facilities and related infrastructure. This position offers flexibility, allowing candidates to work full-time with benefits or part-time, with options for remote work, on-site work within Garver's design centers or regional offices, or a hybrid approach. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager of Garver's WBL, the role demands meticulous attention to detail, a deep understanding of water treatment processes, and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and with external partners.

As part of the WBL QC Team, the Process Engineer will be responsible for scrutinizing process modeling, hydraulic modeling, design calculations, facility and equipment layouts, coordination with equipment vendors, and regulatory agency interactions. The candidate will also ensure seamless collaboration among the various supporting disciplines such as civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and control engineering, maintaining a high standard of quality throughout the design review process. Occasional travel may be required to engage with project teams and ensure design integrity across multiple locations.

Job Requirements

  • bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, chemical, mechanical, or biosystems/agricultural engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • master’s degree in civil, environmental, chemical, or related engineering discipline
  • 20 or more years of direct experience designing water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • professional engineer licensure
  • experience with biological modeling software such as BioWin, GPS-X, and Sumo
  • experience working with a diverse disciplinary team including civil, structural, building mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and control disciplines

Job Qualifications

  • over 20 years of direct experience designing water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • professional engineer licensure (PE)
  • experience with biological modeling software such as BioWin, GPS-X, and Sumo
  • experience working with diverse disciplinary teams including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and control disciplines
  • familiarity with Bluebeam software (preferred)
  • experience with hydraulic modeling software such as Visual Hydraulics (preferred)

Job Duties

  • perform quality control reviews for water and wastewater treatment processes
  • analyze process modeling and develop criteria using water and wastewater process data
  • evaluate, select, and implement water and wastewater processes
  • conduct hydraulic analysis of treatment plants
  • review chemical storage and feed systems
  • assess blower systems and sizing
  • review process flow diagrams
  • evaluate piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • review specification and contract documents
  • coordinate with equipment vendors and regulatory agencies
  • collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and control disciplines
  • travel occasionally to coordinate with design teams
