Atlas Roofing Corporation is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Control Technician for its Franklin, OH location. This role focuses on maintaining quality standards across raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with CARE (Customer Acceptance Requirements and Expectations) specifications and regulatory standards such as those set by 3M and UL. The Quality Control Technician plays a pivotal role in conducting comprehensive testing, process auditing, and documentation to support the division's commitment to excellence. The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing incoming material inspections, finished product evaluations, and required process audits. They meticulously record data in designated software and databases to maintain traceability and ensure continuous quality improvement. By analyzing test outcomes including specific processes like copper testing for shingles, the technician supports production adjustments to maintain strict adherence to quality criteria. Quick decision-making and problem-solving skills are essential in this role to effectively address and resolve product quality issues. The technician also manages the hold process for questionable products, facilitates consumer claim processing, and assists third-party auditors in quality audits throughout the year.

Collaboration with production teams and supervisors is a daily necessity to uphold rigorous standards and promote efficient manufacturing practices. Additional responsibilities include supporting quality functions such as raw material trials, blend checks, and various testing initiatives. To maintain laboratory integrity, the technician is also tasked with upkeep of testing equipment and overall lab cleanliness. Candidates should possess a minimum of three years progressive experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, laboratory experience preferred, and proficiency with computer applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and email platforms.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities are critical for success in this role. The ability to enter, manipulate, and retrieve data accurately and efficiently is expected along with strong interpersonal skills to interact with personnel across multiple functional areas. A high school diploma is required, with an associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Job Qualifications

  • Previous laboratory experience preferred
  • PC literate with ability to effectively utilize Excel, Word, email, PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and written to personnel from various functional areas
  • Ability to enter, manipulate and retrieve data from computer
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English reading, writing, speaking
  • High school diploma
  • Associate degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Duties

  • Complete required incoming raw materials testing
  • Perform finished product testing and adjust to meet CARE specifications
  • Perform required process audits
  • Record all product and raw material data in correct software/databases
  • Complete shingle copper testing to meet 3M requirements
  • Address all quality issues by working with production and supervisor
  • Make quick and accurate decisions on product quality
  • Use hold process to quarantine questionable product for review
  • Understand and process consumer claims
  • Assist UL and 3rd party auditors on all Quality Audits throughout the year
  • Support other quality functions such as raw material trials, blend checks, pounds test, Mardi Gras, etc.
  • Keep all testing equipment and lab clean and in good working condition
