The Quality Control Inspector role at Atlas Air Worldwide is a pivotal position focused on ensuring the airworthiness of the company’s aircraft fleet. Reporting directly to the Manager of Quality Control & Aircraft Records, the inspector is responsible for overseeing maintenance operations, validating compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company policies, and authorizing the release of aircraft for service. This role requires an individual to conduct detailed inspections following rigorous maintenance program specifications, perform re-inspections of corrections, and engage closely with both internal teams and external vendors to guarantee the highest standards of work quality. The inspector also plays an essential role during heavy maintenance checks by auditing all related documentation and maintenance activities to ensure procedural compliance and thoroughness. Job Requirements

  • Able to work rotating schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Valid driver license and US or country of origin passport
  • Able to travel internationally for periods of up to 30 days

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational experience
  • Current, active, and valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings
  • Seven to ten years of aircraft maintenance experience, with at least three years in an inspection department or holding RII authorization
  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations, aircraft manufacturer specifications, and manuals
  • Five years of aircraft maintenance experience on Boeing series aircraft
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft software and digital manuals

Job Duties

  • Oversee the maintenance of aircraft to ensure that all required inspection items are satisfactorily inspected and that all procedures, standards, and limits comply with FAA regulations and Company policies
  • Complete aircraft inspections in accordance with maintenance program specifications, procedures, and criteria to ensure they are maintained in an airworthy condition
  • Perform re-inspections of corrected discrepancies
  • Perform required inspections on "RII" items
  • Assist in review of aircraft maintenance records
  • Recommend changes or additions to maintenance procedures, including review and update of company manuals
  • Perform receiving inspections of newly purchased, repaired, overhauled parts or continued service components and hardware
  • Monitor and inspect maintenance performed by outside vendors and authorize maintenance releases as necessary
  • Audit documentation and maintenance processes during Heavy Check
  • Review completed production control work packages for completeness and proper signoff
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
