Job Description
LSG Sky Chefs is one of the world’s largest airline catering and hospitality providers, recognized for its outstanding reputation and dynamic approach within the industry. Renowned for being voted "Airline Caterer of the Year in North America" for both 2023 and 2024, this company is a leader in delivering premium culinary and hospitality services to airlines and their passengers across North and Latin America. This prestigious accolade highlights LSG Sky Chefs' unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction. The company prides itself on being driven by a highly talented and dedicated workforce, whose expertise continues to elevate the quality and consistency of the services offered. Each team member plays a crucial role in maintaining the company’s high standards and in shaping the culinary experiences that delight millions of travelers annually.
We are currently seeking a meticulous and highly motivated Quality Assurance / Food Safety Technician to join our team at the San Francisco facility. This on-site position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $25.00 to $29.00, reflecting the importance of this role in maintaining the safety and quality of our food products. The Quality Assurance Technician will play a vital part in overseeing food safety and quality control measures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. The role primarily involves spending approximately 80% of the time walking the production facility floor, actively monitoring and verifying adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety protocols, and sanitation standards. This hands-on approach is crucial for identifying any potential issues in real-time and taking corrective actions swiftly to maintain the highest standards.
The responsibilities include maintaining comprehensive recordkeeping and key performance indicators related to food safety, sanitation, regulatory compliance, and customer specifications. This involves cooperation with County Health, State Health Departments, the FDA, and internal customers, including airline clients. The technician will be conducting environmental swabs, microbiological sampling sent to local labs for analysis, temperature monitoring of coolers and freezer rooms, and verifying compliance with portion control and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) documentation. Additionally, the role supports the Quality Manager in training initiatives and continuous process improvements aimed at enhancing food safety and sanitation practices.
This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has strong communication skills to effectively train hourly employees and interact with various departments. The candidate must be comfortable working in a cold environment and possess the flexibility to support weekend and holiday shifts as necessary to address compliance issues promptly. Proficiency with basic computer software, including Microsoft Office, and familiarity with using technical equipment such as thermometers, calculators, weight scales, ATP testing devices, and mechanical food processing tools, is essential.
As a part of LSG Sky Chefs, the technician will contribute to maintaining the company’s status as a leader in airline catering, ensuring exceptional food safety and quality that meets rigorous standards and enhances passenger satisfaction. This role is a unique opportunity to be part of a globally recognized company where quality, safety, and customer service are paramount, and where your efforts directly impact millions of customers worldwide.
