The Quality Assurance Supervisor role at the Wayland, MI facility is a full-time, on-site position primarily on the first shift, with occasional flexibility to support alternate shifts. This site manufactures high-quality non-dairy creamer products, and the supervisor is instrumental in upholding stringent product quality, food safety, and sanitation standards to comply with company and regulatory guidelines. The role entails overseeing and developing the Quality Assurance team, ensuring all scheduling needs are met, and providing leadership to solve quality challenges effectively. The supervisor is responsible for managing various QA programs such as Formula Control, Allergen Control, Non-Conforming Products handling, Recalls, Food Safety Plans, and pest control systems to maintain rigorous safety and quality controls across production. Conducting Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation audits, analyzing technical data, spotting trends, and implementing corrective actions are key responsibilities in supporting continuous improvement initiatives like Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards. This supervisory role also involves leading the resolution of customer complaints, product holds, and incident investigations, maintaining compliance with food safety regulatory frameworks, and delivering training on quality and food safety to employees at various levels. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Experience auditing quality systems and manufacturing practices to meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Experience developing and conducting employee training
- Ability to provide leadership and technical assistance
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work first shift with occasional flexibility
- Commitment to maintaining food safety and quality standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, biology, or related field preferred
- SQF Practitioner certification preferred
- Food Defense Program leadership experience preferred
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Experience auditing quality systems and manufacturing practices
- Experience developing and conducting employee training
- Excellent problem solving, leadership, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Job Duties
- Supervise and develop the Quality Assurance team and ensure scheduling needs are met
- Provide leadership and technical assistance to resolve quality related problems
- Oversee, implement, and maintain QA programs including Formula Control, Allergen Control, Non-Conforming Products, Recalls, Food Safety Plans, and pest control systems
- Conduct GMP and sanitation audits and summarize technical data to identify trends and corrective actions
- Support quality systems and initiatives such as SPC, SQF, and continuous improvement processes
- Lead efforts to resolve quality-related issues including customer complaints, product holds, and incidents
- Maintain and oversee food safety regulatory programs
- Provide quality and food safety training for employees at all levels
