Job Description
Gate Gourmet is a leading global provider in the airline catering industry, offering comprehensive food service solutions for airlines and other travel-related sectors. Located in Tampa, Florida, this operation is part of a vast network that delivers exceptional culinary experiences to travelers worldwide. With a strong commitment to quality, safety, and innovation, Gate Gourmet is recognized for its consistent reliability and dedication to customer satisfaction. The company fosters an inclusive, diverse workplace environment where every employee is valued and encouraged to contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence. As a significant player in the food service and airline catering industry, Gate Gourmet focuses on developing innovative solutions and maintaining high standards of performance in all of its operations.
The position available at the 1039_GG Tampa unit is for a Quality Assurance professional who will be primarily responsible for overseeing quality control elements related to operations, policies, procedures, and audits. This full-time role offers an annual salary range of $66,000 to $68,000 and is ideal for individuals passionate about maintaining food safety and quality standards within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The Quality Assurance specialist acts as the critical link between the business unit and the US Quality Assurance team, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal standards. Key responsibilities include managing quality improvement projects, conducting audits to verify compliance with operational activities according to Gate Gourmet, customer, and regulatory specifications, and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives. The role demands a proactive approach to defect prevention rather than mere detection, emphasizing problem-solving and cross-departmental collaboration. Additionally, this position is involved with coordinating corrective actions, educating staff and management on quality-related issues, and contributing to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and safety protocols. The Quality Assurance specialist must be adept in food safety practices such as GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), aligning with regulatory requirements and company policies. Candidates are expected to have a minimum of three years of relevant experience, preferably in airline catering, food processing, or similar fast-paced industries. Certification requirements include ServSafe, with preferences for HACCP certification and knowledge of Six Sigma and lean methodologies. This role requires strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, combined with a keen eye for quality auditing and attention to detail. Gate Gourmet offers competitive benefits including paid time off, 401k with company match, company-sponsored life insurance, medical, dental and vision plans, voluntary disability and life insurance options, employee assistance programs, commuter benefits, employee discounts, and complimentary healthy meals for operational staff. The work environment involves physical activity such as standing, bending, and lifting during long shifts in a production kitchen facility with typical exposure to temperature changes and noise. This role reports directly to the Quality Assurance, Operations Manager, or General Manager, and embodies Gate Gourmet's core values of Excellence, Passion, Responsibility, and Respect that guide everyday operations and employee conduct.
