The role of Coordinator - Quality Rating Improvement System (QRIS) is a vital position within The Children’s Cabinet. This non-exempt, full-time role offers a competitive pay rate ranging between $28.69 and $30.68 per hour, reflecting the specialized skills and experience required. The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all Quality Rating and Improvement System activities within their assigned region. This includes direct supervision of QRIS Coaches and Supervisors, ensuring that program goals and quality standards are consistently met. The coordinator may also carry a reduced caseload of coaching responsibilities, working hands-on with early childhood education providers to enhance program quality.

QRIS is an evidence-based framework designed to assess, improve, and communicate the quality of early childhood programs. The Coordinator’s work is central to this mission, combining leadership, data management, program evaluation, and direct coaching. Responsibilities include collaborating with program managers to develop and refine the annual QRIS plan, conducting site visits for quality control, and ensuring compliance with state licensing regulations and best practices such as the Infant Toddler Environmental Rating Scale (ITERS), Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale (ECERS), and the Pyramid Model. A strong knowledge of early childhood education principles, adult learning strategies, and state-specific licensing requirements is essential.

The Coordinator will engage in community outreach to promote the QRIS system and related services, ensuring providers receive quality training and resources. Maintaining accurate records, generating performance reports, and participating in statewide evaluator reliability checks are also key components of the position. This role requires a collaborative approach, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to adapt services to diverse provider needs while maintaining high standards of customer service. The position demands physical capability to perform job duties, including occasional lifting and travel within and outside the state.
