The current opening is for a 2nd shift Quality Control Lab Technician who plays a vital role within the company's laboratory environment. This position involves conducting chemical testing to ensure quality control and quality assurance for TRCC's manufactured chemical products. The technician will perform a range of tests related to water treatment products and lubricant additives manufacturing using both manual techniques and sophisticated instruments such as FTIR, XRF, GC, and HPLC chromatography. Duties include carrying out acid-base titrations, moisture determinations, pH and conductivity measurements, density and viscosity evaluations, as well as preparing Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) and maintaining meticulous records. The technician must communicate effectively with production staff to relay test results and maintain excellent laboratory organization and cleanliness.
Candidates for this role must adhere to safety protocols rigorously, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS). The role requires working on site with no remote work options. The work schedule is Monday through Friday on the 2nd shift, with mandatory overtime as needed. The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $22.00 to $24.00, depending on experience and education. Job Requirements
- high school diploma required
- associates degree in related field preferred
- must be able to be exposed to and smell chemicals used in testing environment
- must be able to stand and work at a lab bench for long periods
- must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- must be able to pass a respirator certification and wear a respirator as necessary
- must pass fitness for duty test drug screen and TB test on post offer employment physical
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma required
- associates degree in related field preferred
- experience with SAP preferred
- strong experience and knowledge in dealing with chemicals and their hazards
- good reading and comprehension skills
Job Duties
- pass a fitness for duty test drug screen and submit to a TB test on a post offer employment physical
- perform chemical tests including acid-base titrations solid and moisture determinations color comparison testing pH determination conductivity water in sample content measures density and viscosity measures
- perform special chemical and physical tests common to water treatment products and lubricant additives manufacturing
- perform instrumental testing such as FTIR XRF GC and HPLC chromatography and gel-permeation chromatography
- electronically log in and label samples
- communicate with production staff and notify of test results
- read temperature charts and graphs
- build and maintain understanding of TRCC products and chemistries
- execute laboratory tests with accuracy and precision
- use instruments and lab test equipment to determine sample and test results
- use personal protective equipment and abide by safety rules and procedures
- read understand and apply handling cautions stated in material safety data sheets
- work with production personnel to test samples producing accurate results and reporting timely
- perform test methods precisely as written demonstrating accuracy and precision
- stock sample preparation areas and test station cabinets drawers and shelves with labware and supplies
- clean test station and lab equipment after testing restoring cleanliness and readiness
- report equipment sample and test issues to chemist
- monitor supply of lab expendables and notify lab chemist when short
- perform record keeping on batch tickets final reports QF forms and clerical functions
- prepare certificates of analysis daily
- organize manage and disposition QC lab sample retain areas in QC and grease and lube labs
- perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
