Job Description

Thompson Pipe Group is a privately held family business that carries a strong legacy of engineering, manufacturing, and contracting expertise. Based in Rialto, California, the company has grown from humble beginnings into the largest and most diverse provider of drainage, sanitary, pressure, and trench-less pipe solutions in North America, with numerous manufacturing locations across the country. The company prides itself on continuous product innovation, with each generation of products surpassing the last, designed to meet evolving infrastructure needs. Thompson Pipe Group offers a dynamic and supportive work environment that values family principles, quality, and customer-centric innovation.

The Quality Control Technician role at Thompson Pipe Group's Conroe, Texas facility is a critical position within the Quality Control department, collaborating closely with Production Operations. This role focuses on ensuring the highest level of product quality for precast concrete products. The technician will be responsible for inspecting raw materials such as rock, sand, and concrete, as well as conducting tests that confirm the conformity of finished products to engineering and customer specifications. This includes maintaining thorough documentation and calibration records to comply with both company quality control manuals and industry standards set by authoritative bodies like ACPA.

Working in this role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to read blueprints and drawings accurately. The position demands close collaboration with various internal departments to understand and enforce project-specific quality assurance requirements. Candidates are expected to be hands-on, operating and maintaining all quality testing equipment properly, performing pre-pour and post-pour inspections, random checks on wire cage fabrication, and occasionally undertaking additional tasks outside their typical responsibilities to support business needs. The role demands adherence to safety protocols and tolerance to working conditions involving exposure to airborne particles, mechanical parts, and potential noise.

The scheduled shift is from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., offering a comprehensive benefits package that includes top-tier medical, dental, and vision benefits, profit sharing, bonus programs, life insurance, company-matched 401K retirement plans, paid holidays, employee discounts, training and development opportunities, and participation in fun company events. The company also fosters career advancement through training and certification support, especially in industry-required quality control certifications. Thompson Pipe Group strongly supports an inclusive workplace, being an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and fair employment practices.

This role is ideal for candidates with prior experience in precast concrete quality control or related fields, familiar with using specialized tools, and possessing certifications such as ACPA Quality or NPCA PQS I or PCI Level I. The company values candidates who are proactive learners, committed to quality, safety conscious, and ready to contribute to a progressive team environment focused on excellence in infrastructure product manufacturing.
