Job Description

Kiewit Corporation is one of North America’s largest and most respected engineering and construction organizations, with over $18 billion in annual revenue and a workforce exceeding 32,000 employees. Operating across eight different market segments, Kiewit specializes in designing and building large-scale, complex infrastructure projects throughout North America. Renowned for a deep commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship, Kiewit embodies these values in its core mission, the quality of its work, and its dedicated people. The company provides a workplace that fosters career growth, professional development, and a strong culture of collaboration and innovation. Kiewit’s Central District, specifically, operates in the central and south-central regions of the United States, delivering heavy civil and transportation projects including highways, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, and tunnels. With one of the largest equipment fleets in the region, Kiewit is highly capable of mobilizing teams to any location, self-performing mass grading, drainage, bridge construction, aggregate production, paving, rail, and utility construction efficiently and safely.

This opportunity is for the position of Quality Engineer/Specialist within the Central division, focused on supporting heavy civil infrastructure construction projects around the United States. These projects encompass a variety of scopes including earthwork, grading, site balancing, utilities, drainage systems, underground trenching, stormwater systems, paving, and concrete work related to roads, bridges, airports, transit systems, power, and water projects. The role is full-time and offers a competitive base salary ranging from $77,000 to $90,000 per year, dependent on experience, education, skill set, and location. Initially, the incumbent will be based at a project site in Big Bend National Forest, approximately four hours from El Paso, Texas, for 18 months, with potential to support future projects across multiple states including Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Kiewit supports mobility and provides per diem and relocation assistance when required.

The Quality Engineer/Specialist will play a critical role in providing quality oversight for construction teams to ensure projects meet rigorous quality requirements, specifications, and client expectations. Responsibilities include performing testing, inspections, and offering guidance and training on quality control activities. This role is integral in mitigating project risks through proactive quality management. The successful candidate will report to a site Quality Manager and be involved in projects ranging from six months to multiple years in duration. Mentorship and professional development are key components of the role at Kiewit, with significant opportunities to advance towards roles such as Safety Manager and to obtain relevant certifications supported by the company.

This role demands a quality-focused individual with strong leadership capabilities and a minimum of five years’ experience in quality functions related to large, complex construction jobs. The candidate should be experienced in coordinating inspection and testing activities, managing compliance documentation, communicating effectively with project teams and clients, overseeing subcontractor quality, and mitigating risks that could impact cost and schedule. Kiewit offers exceptional career development opportunities, top-tier health benefits, dental and vision insurance, flexible work options, comprehensive retirement plans including a wealth-building 401K program, and generous paid time off. Embracing a diverse workforce, Kiewit fosters an inclusive culture and is committed to veteran and military recruiting, valuing relevant military experience as equivalent to job qualifications.
