With over 1,100 employees spread across 50 locations throughout the state, NEBCO supplies ready-mixed concrete and concrete-related materials to various construction projects. The company’s diversified operations extend beyond concrete supply and include active involvement in road construction, traffic control, mining, real estate development and management, and construction surety bonding. NEBCO also owns additional businesses, such as a short line railroad, Quarry Oaks Golf Club, and the Lincoln Saltdogs baseball team, demonstrating a broad and successful portfolio of ventures. NEBCO’s firm commitment to quality, service, and community involvement has made it one of Nebraska’s most respected and diversified privately-owned businesses. More information about the company can be found on their website at www.nebcoinc.com.
The position open at NEBCO is for a role in the General Testing Lab team, where quality assurance and quality control are paramount. The person filling this role will be tasked with overseeing the entire production process of prestressed and precast concrete products manufactured or processed by Concrete Industries and other affiliated NEBCO companies. This role is critical to ensuring that all finished products comply with rigorous contract specifications and meet the high standards NEBCO upholds for quality and safety. The position requires adherence to the company's safety program and policies, and the successful candidate will be expected to perform all duties diligently and safely. Reliable attendance and commitment to consistent job performance are essential.
This role involves detailed monitoring and inspection duties throughout all stages of production, from pre-pour preparations, including checking form dimensions and stressing cables, to the pour process where concrete batches are tested for accuracy and quality, and finally, post-pour activities that ensure products meet strength and dimensional requirements. The incumbent will also perform tests on materials and products, conduct maintenance and cleanup within the laboratory, and ensure proper recording and reporting of all quality control data. Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals are crucial. Furthermore, the candidate must be flexible, willing to work irregular hours during busy periods, and proficient with computers to support their quality assurance tasks effectively.
NEBCO values continuous learning and supports employee growth, offering on-the-job training and the opportunity to earn professional certifications such as those from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI). This role is suited for individuals passionate about maintaining and enhancing quality standards in a dynamic construction environment, offering a rewarding career path with a reputable and growing company.
