Job Description

Ventura Foods is a leading manufacturer in the food industry known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction. With multiple plants and a robust quality management system, the company strives to uphold high standards across all its operations. Ventura Foods specializes in producing a wide range of food products, catering to both retail and foodservice markets. The company values diversity, inclusion, and a safe work environment for all employees. It operates with a clear focus on compliance with food safety standards such as SQF (Safe Quality Food), HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point), and other regulatory requirements which are essential in maintaining product quality and safety.

The role of a Ventura Foods Company Auditor is crucial to sustaining the integrity of the company’s quality assurance initiatives. Stationed at the Ontario plant, this salaried, onsite position primarily involves auditing the facility to ensure compliance with corporate HQ and local plant policies, standardized operating procedures (SOPs), and quality programs. The auditor is responsible for planning and executing audits, preparing detailed reports, and facilitating corrective actions based on findings. This includes coordinating root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), thereby ensuring continuous improvement within the plant’s operations.

This role requires the auditor to lead all stages of audit processes including preparation, execution, and follow-up. The auditor works both independently and collaboratively as part of the Ventura Foods Company auditing team, participating in calibration exercises with peers to maintain consistency and accuracy across audits. A key aspect of the position involves evolving the internal auditing program from an SQF-centered approach to a comprehensive Ventura Foods standards-based program. This entails developing deep dive audit scenarios and thorough assessments that adapt as plant programs mature. The auditor also manages other crucial plant audits including GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative), customer-specific audits, and ensures adherence to all company and customer quality assurance policies.

In addition to auditing duties, the auditor actively supports the cross-functional plant audit team by serving as a lead and coordinator for ongoing RCA and CAPA activities. The auditor’s focus extends to food safety, quality, and HACCP program compliance, monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly audit schedules and addressing gaps and non-conformances through corrective action initiatives. Given the nature of food manufacturing, this position emphasizes compliance with food safety regulations such as the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and current SQF codes.

The company offers a competitive compensation package including a salary range of $87,159 to $111,651.75 with eligibility for annual bonuses based on incentive program terms. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, vision coverage starting on the first day for eligible employees, profit sharing, 401(k) matching, paid vacation, sick time, holidays, and employee assistance programs. The role also demands physical ability for tasks involving sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance. The work environment may involve exposure to various conditions such as temperatures extremes, vibrations, chemicals, fumes, allergens, confined spaces, and heights, underscoring the need for compliance with safety and personal protective equipment protocols.

Ventura Foods is deeply committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture. The company prides itself on treating all employees with respect and ensuring equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other protected classifications. As an equal opportunity employer, Ventura Foods encourages qualified candidates who are passionate about quality assurance in food manufacturing to apply for this vital auditor position, contributing to the company’s mission of delivering safe, high-quality products to its customers worldwide.
