The role of a Public Areas Cleaner at Wake Forest University is a vital position within the university's housekeeping and facilities management team. This full-time role focuses on ensuring that the Lobby, public areas, restrooms, main lounge, and dining rooms are maintained with the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation. In this position, the individual will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring cleanliness in all assigned areas, using proper cleaning chemicals and equipment to ensure hygiene and safety. Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms and replenishing supplies, vacuuming and mopping floors, sweeping common areas, cleaning glass doors and windows, maintaining housekeeping storage inventory, and handling specific tasks such as cleaning the piano and ashtrays. The role also involves replacing light bulbs, reporting damages or repair needs, and assisting other housekeeping and laundry personnel as necessary.
Candidates will need to exhibit a high level of attention to detail, reliability, and a strong work ethic. Job Duties
- Maintains and monitors the Lobby and public areas and ensures that the cleaning meets the standards set by management
- cleans all public restrooms and replenishes necessary supplies
- vacuums and mops common areas and stairwells
- sweeps and mops Lobby and Dining Room areas with proper cleaning chemicals or supplies
- operates floor-buffing equipment using proper chemicals and cleaning agents
- cleans ashtrays and ash urns in the Lobby and all public areas
- replaces light bulbs and missing ashtrays
- maintains all Housekeeping storage closet inventory and ensures a clean and organized work area
- cleans glass doors and windows in public areas
- ensures the proper cleaning of the piano on a daily basis and prior to a client's function when needed
- assists all Housekeeping and Laundry personnel in the completion of specific job tasks when necessary
- reports any repairs or damage to equipment or work areas to management
- maintains a good level of employee and guest relations
- cleans all public and house phones in the area of responsibility
- performs other related duties as assigned
