Job Description

Concordia Theological Seminary (CTSFW) located in Fort Wayne is a distinguished institution dedicated to theological education rooted in the confessional Lutheran tradition. As a vibrant Christ-centered community, CTSFW focuses on forming servants in Jesus Christ who teach the faithful, reach the lost, and care for all, providing comprehensive theological training and spiritual formation to students preparing for ministry and leadership in the church and beyond. The Seminary's commitment to ministry extends not only through education, but also through active engagement with the church and the broader community, exemplifying Lutheran teaching, practice, and worship in every aspect of campus life.

The role of the Public Safety Officer & Greeter at Concordia Theological Seminary is integral to maintaining the welcoming and secure environment reflective of the Seminary's mission and values. Serving as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, this position uniquely combines customer service, front desk operations, and public safety responsibilities. The Officer acts as a professional ambassador of CTSFW, embodying hospitality, tact, discretion, and Christian care in interactions with all campus community members.

This full-time role demands exceptional communication skills and a service-oriented mindset, as the Public Safety Officer & Greeter provides directions, answers telephonic inquiries, monitors front desk activity, and assists with guest check-in and escorting visitors unfamiliar with the campus. Additionally, the Officer contributes to the safety of the campus through routine foot and vehicle patrols, reporting maintenance and safety concerns, and ensuring campus buildings are properly secured. The role also involves supporting campus events, shuttle services, and other departmental needs, thus requiring flexibility and cooperation across various Seminary functions.

Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED is a crucial aspect of this position, reflecting its commitment to immediate responsiveness during emergencies. Physical requirements include the ability to stand or walk for extended periods indoors and outdoors and occasional lifting or carrying of up to 30 pounds. Throughout all duties, the Public Safety Officer & Greeter must uphold the Seminary's confessional Lutheran identity and exemplify conduct consistent with its mission of spiritual formation and care.

The position offers a meaningful opportunity for individuals looking to contribute to a Christ-centered educational environment while applying their skills in public safety and customer service. The Public Safety Officer & Greeter not only enhances campus security but also fosters a welcoming atmosphere that supports the holistic mission of Concordia Theological Seminary, underscoring the Seminary's vision of being an engaged and resourced Christian community both locally and internationally.
