The role of Public Area Attendant at Heritage Hotels & Resorts is a vital position that greatly influences the guest experience by maintaining all public spaces to the highest standards at all times. This role involves ensuring cleanliness, safety, and the aesthetic upkeep of all common areas, which includes lobbies, corridors, public restrooms, and other public interfacing spaces. Reporting directly to the Housekeeping Manager and Housekeeping Supervisor, the Public Area Attendant plays a critical operational role by communicating daily on job assignments and timelines to ensure efficient workflow.

The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning tasks such as dusting, polishing, vacuuming, mopping, and sterilizing surfaces and fixtures. They will meticulously maintain restrooms, not just for guests but also employee areas, with frequent inspections and restocking throughout each shift. The role demands attention to detail in managing supplies and ensuring that cleaning equipment and work carts are neat and organized. Beyond routine cleaning, the attendant will also be responsible for deep cleaning assignments and special projects as needed, adding to the overall presentation and maintenance of the hotel’s public spaces.

The Public Area Attendant must work in alignment with all company safety, sanitation, and health regulations, safeguarding the quality and credibility of the hotel’s environment. This role also requires the ability to resolve guest concerns and respond promptly and professionally to their requests, enhancing the overall guest satisfaction. Additionally, the role demands protecting company assets and maintaining confidentiality regarding proprietary, client, and guest information.

Job Duties

  • Work under the direction of the Housekeeping Manager and Housekeeping Supervisor
  • Communicate daily with leadership regarding job assignments and required timeframes
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with team members and guests
  • Clean and supply all designated public interfacing areas including sterilizing, polishing, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and cleaning ceiling vents
  • Inspect, clean and restock all public restrooms including poolside facilities frequently throughout each shift
  • Inspect, clean and restock employee restrooms a minimum of two times daily
  • Remove trash and vacuum carpets in internal office spaces
  • Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities
  • Maintain corridors and public spaces in a clean, neat and clutter free condition
  • Identify and report any loss or damage of linen, furniture, fixtures or equipment
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of all chemicals used and their proper application
  • Stock and maintain housekeeping supply rooms
  • Maintain a neat and organized appearance of work carts and cleaning equipment
  • Carry out deep cleaning tasks and special projects as assigned
  • Resolve guest concerns and respond to requests in a professional and timely manner
  • Follow all company safety, sanitation and health regulations at all times
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and professional appearance in compliance with uniform and grooming standards
  • Protect company assets and maintain confidentiality of proprietary, client and guest information
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
