Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- high school diploma or GED equivalent
- one year of experience as a kitchen cook or line cook or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- food handler's permit with Yuma County Health Department Certificate required within one week of hire
- valid U.S. state driver's license
- ability to frequently stand, lift, carry and move up to 50 pounds of food, materials and equipment
- must comply with Arizona Department of Health restaurant regulations, County health ordinances and city policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- minimum one year of experience as a kitchen cook or line cook or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- knowledge of city policies and procedures
- knowledge of proper safety and sanitation practices and methods used in food preparation and storage
- knowledge of principles of inventory control for commercial kitchen food and supplies
- skill in following and maintaining safety standards
- skill in food preparation, cleaning and sanitation techniques and practices
- skill in following verbal and written instructions and procedures
- bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- culinary education preferred
Job Duties
- Assists in preparing a variety of food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and other kitchen equipment
- applies consistent standard portion sizes and cooking methods by battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating
- assists in managing inventory of food and supplies and rotates all products
- assures adequate stocks are available and sufficient levels of food products are at line stations during service period
- maintains kitchen preparation areas, tools and equipment according to health regulations and city policies
- recognizes, avoids and reports unsafe conditions, accidents and injuries
- supports courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors and city staff
- promotes city goals, vision and values and complies with all city policies and procedures
- maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and city information
- performs other duties as assigned
