Job Description

The Event Coordinator role at Michaels in Spartanburg, SC, is a dynamic, part-time position focused on planning, coordinating, and facilitating various creative events, including children's birthday parties and craft classes, within the store. This role is essential in delivering a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests of all ages by creating an environment that fosters creativity and enjoyment. The Event Coordinator is responsible for demonstrating craft activities, face painting, and managing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons according to company standards. Communication with clients and store team members is a key aspect, including handling administrative tasks such as answering emails and making phone calls. The role requires adjusting event plans based on client feedback, creating backup plans, and ensuring overall client satisfaction. Beyond event coordination, the Event Coordinator provides excellent customer service by helping customers shop, locate products, and offering solutions while facilitating a fast and friendly checkout experience. The position includes operational duties such as unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, maintaining store recovery standards, and supporting shrink and safety programs. The Event Coordinator also supports cross-department activities like custom framing selling and production. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in event coordination or customer service
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using ladders
  • Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests and co-workers
  • Basic computer skills for email, phone calls, and administrative tasks
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and early mornings
  • Must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects and perform activities such as face painting
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and paperwork
  • Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs
  • Create backup or emergency plans as needed
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • Uphold the company's cleanliness and safety standards
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions
  • Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Engage customers on benefits of rewards program and private label credit cards and complete enrollments
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • Assist with Omni channel processes including Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store
  • Participate in truck un-load, stocking, and planogram processes
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Perform store in stock optimization and AD set duties
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and company programs
  • Interact positively and respectfully with others
  • Cross trained in custom framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
