Job Description

This particular role is within a Michaels store located in Worcester, MA, and is centered around event coordination and customer service. The position focuses on planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events within the store, including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes. This role is designed to provide guests with a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience, ensuring they leave with memories of creativity and celebration. The position is part-time or full-time with a competitive hourly pay range of $16.00 to $18.80, reflecting the company’s commitment to rewarding team members fairly.

The Event Coordinator will be responsible for orchestrating multiple events simultaneously, catering to a diverse audience from young children to seniors. Duties include instructing participants in craft projects, performing activities like face painting, and managing event details such as party add-ons. The role requires excellent communication and organizational skills to handle client interactions, administrative duties, and adjustments based on client feedback. Maintaining cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after events is also critical to upholding the company’s brand promises.

In addition to event-related tasks, the role encompasses providing outstanding customer service on the sales floor. This includes assisting customers in locating products, managing the checkout process efficiently, and promoting the company’s Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards. The coordinator will also be involved in operational duties such as truck unloading, stocking, merchandise recovery, and supporting loss prevention and safety measures. The ability to multi-task and adapt in a dynamic retail environment is essential.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience working with children and children’s events

  • ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using ladders or similar equipment

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
  • engage clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
  • demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities like face painting
  • facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards
  • communicate event details with clients and store team members
  • complete administrative tasks including emails, phone calls, and paperwork
  • adjust event plans based on client feedback and create backup plans
  • ensure client satisfaction and uphold cleanliness and safety standards
  • help customers shop and locate products
  • provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • promote Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
  • educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • assist with Omni channel processes including Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store
  • participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes
  • complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties
  • support shrink and safety programs
  • adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
  • interact respectfully and positively with customers and team members
  • cross-trained in custom framing selling and production
  • participate in daily store cleanliness activities
