Job Description

The Nutrition Group (TNG) is a well-established food service management company that has been committed to delivering delicious and healthy meals to various clients since its founding in 1975. With operations spanning seven states, TNG upholds a reputation for excellent service by fostering strong, long-term relationships with its clients, customers, and team members. As an organization, TNG values the unique contributions of every individual on its team, believing that each person makes a meaningful difference in the company’s success. The company prides itself on being an industry leader recognized for its dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. TNG operates under a supportive, team-oriented culture that encourages growth and development among its employees.

This job opportunity is for a position within a local school kitchen or cafeteria under The Nutrition Group’s management. The role focuses primarily on food preparation and service, ensuring adherence to high-quality and safety standards. The work schedule is highly favorable, offering daylight hours from Monday through Friday, with no evenings or weekend shifts, and observed holidays off, which allows for a great work-life balance. The position also provides competitive benefits including paid time off (PTO) and participation in a 401(k) retirement plan. The working hours run from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., making it an excellent choice for those seeking steady daytime employment.

Responsibilities for this role include cooking and preparing meals, portioning and serving food to students, and maintaining strict sanitation practices that comply with USDA and state food safety guidelines. Additionally, the role involves ensuring compliance with HAACP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and health department regulations, underlining the importance of food safety and quality control. Employees will also assist in monitoring costs and inventory controls, supporting efficient kitchen operations and resource management.

Candidates who excel in this role will demonstrate a positive and consistent work ethic, possess reliable transportation, and show a willingness to learn and grow professionally within the position. While food service experience and computer literacy are preferred, the company values a good attitude and strong interpersonal and communication skills just as highly. Prospective employees must be able to obtain the required clearances and pass criminal background checks, which aligns with the responsible handling of meals served to children.

Physical requirements for this job include the ability to stand for extended periods, as well as tasks that involve sitting, pushing, pulling, walking, and lifting weights of up to or exceeding 40 pounds. The Nutrition Group is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment, welcoming applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status. This commitment supports a broad spectrum of candidates who can contribute to the company’s values and mission.
