The role offered at The GIANT Company is a Retail Store Team Member position, specifically focused on deli operations within the retail environment located at 3300 Lehigh Street Suite 100, Allentown, PA. This job requires a hands-on approach, with team members responsible for preparing and serving deli foods which include making sandwiches, subs, pizza, fried or roasted chicken, and a variety of grab-and-go lunch meats and cheeses. The position demands proficiency with various kitchen utensils and equipment such as ovens, fryers, roasters, slicers, scales, and cash registers. Additionally, candidates will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all work areas, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies. This role is crucial in providing excellent customer service in the deli department, assisting customers in selecting and preparing products while managing inventory and loss tracking.
Team members work collaboratively to execute daily tasks efficiently and effectively, from preparing food to merchandising according to the plan-o-gram, to sanitizing equipment and workstation surfaces regularly. They must comply with all personal protective equipment requirements and adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and right-to-know training. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience in deli or food service is beneficial but not required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Willingness to work minimum 4-hour shifts or longer as required
- Must complete required training programs including lockout/tagout, confined space, and Right-to-Know
- Adherence to PPE requirements and company safety policies
- Must report incidents and follow emergency procedures promptly
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards

Job Duties
- Review work schedule and prepare equipment and supplies as required at the start of shifts
- Make sandwiches, subs, roasted and fried chicken, heat soup, prepare pizza and appetizers, and merchandise deli products per plan-o-gram
- Serve customers by slicing meat and cheese, weighing, wrapping, and labeling orders
- Operate equipment such as ovens, fryers, roasters, slicers, and scales
- Maintain cleanliness by sanitizing work surfaces, tools, and floors
- Track and record product loss using company procedures
- Order smoked products from the meat department and maintain the smoked product program as applicable
- Perform cleaning of equipment every four hours and ensure proper disposal of waste products
- Follow safety protocols including use of PPE, injury reporting, and emergency procedures
- Adhere to company policies regarding apparel, footwear, and workplace behavior
- Complete all required safety and operational training including lockout/tagout, confined space, and Right-to-Know courses
- Maintain proper food safety and sanitation work habits
- Use proper lifting techniques and keep work areas organized and free of hazards
