The Deli Team Member role at The GIANT Company plays a crucial part in the overall customer shopping experience by handling all aspects related to deli products. This position requires team members to receive, prepare, wrap, slice, weigh, mark, package, and stock deli products in a manner that ensures quality and safety. The responsibilities extend beyond product handling to maintaining clean, safe, and organized work and sales floor environments. Attention is given to correct product rotation, display, and sanitation following regulatory requirements. Customer service is a major component of this role, with deli team members expected to provide friendly and courteous assistance, answer questions, and promote products through suggestive selling.
An integral part of the position involves complying with all federal, state, and local food safety regulations, practicing food handling best practices, and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like cut-resistant gloves when required. The environment can vary from temperature-controlled areas such as freezers to non-air-conditioned back rooms, requiring physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. The position demands serious attention to safety protocols, including accident reporting, proper lifting techniques, and participation in required trainings such as Lockout/Tagout and Confined Space procedures.

Job Requirements
- Minimum 4-hour shifts or more depending on business needs
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand 55 percent of the time and walk 45 percent
- Must adhere to company policy regarding apparel and footwear
- Must complete ELM training courses
- Must report all accidents within 24 hours
- Must follow proper food safety and sanitation protocols
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment where required
- Must complete Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Right to Know training
Job Qualifications
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be able to communicate and understand company policies and safety regulations
- Must meet ergonomic and physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be able to use or learn to use equipment and tools required to perform the job
Job Duties
- Provide quality customer service to customers, co-workers, vendors, and business associates
- Receive, process, prepare, wrap, slice, weigh, mark, and package deli products
- Maintain proper shelf, case, and display conditions including stocking, cleaning, straightening, and rotating products
- Maintain proper cooler conditions including coding, rotating, organizing, and cleaning cases of product
- Maintain proper prep area conditions including cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, utensils, and equipment
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations related to deli operations
- Maintain safe and clean sales floor conditions including sweeping and mopping
