Job Description
Cape Fear Community College is a public community college located in Wilmington, North Carolina. Recognized for its commitment to providing accessible and comprehensive educational opportunities, CFCC offers a wide range of programs and services to support student success and community development. The college emphasizes fostering a supportive learning environment and actively engages with the surrounding community to enhance educational and extracurricular experiences. Among its diverse offerings, the Department of Athletics plays a significant role in promoting student engagement, wellness, and community spirit through competitive sports and events. CFCC’s athletics program is dedicated to building a strong Sea Devil Athletics brand, supporting student-athletes, and creating vibrant campus events that enhance the college experience for all its constituents.
The Coordinator of Athletic Event Management at Cape Fear Community College is a pivotal role within the Department of Athletics, reporting directly to the Director of Athletics. This full-time position focuses on two main areas: the administration and organization of athletic event operations, and the promotion of athletic events to maximize attendance and community engagement. The coordinator is responsible for the establishment and ongoing management of the Athletics Volunteer program, ensuring that game management personnel and volunteers effectively support event operations. Critical to this position is overseeing all facets of athletic event management including ticket sales, concession operations, VIP room functions, facility safety, and maintaining athletic inventory. The role also entails developing strong partnerships within the college and with external organizations such as local high schools, AAU, and club programs to maximize athletic recruitment and community involvement.
Additionally, the coordinator serves as the primary on-site contact for various stakeholders during events including coaches, officials, security, emergency medical services, and visiting teams. Effective communication and organizational skills are essential as the role requires coordinating facility use, maintenance, and custodial services to ensure clean, safe, and welcoming environments for student-athletes and spectators. The position also involves developing and managing an Athletics Intern program, fostering a cooperative work environment, and upholding the policies of Cape Fear Community College and the NJCAA. Leadership is a key component of this role, with the coordinator acting as a role model, setting high standards, and representing the institution positively at all events. This dynamic position is integral to the operational success and promotional strategy of CFCC’s athletic events, offering opportunities to contribute to the college’s mission and support the Sea Devil family through innovative event management and community engagement initiatives.
