Job Description
Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS), headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, is a well-established nonprofit and faith-based organization committed to providing high-quality housing, care, and service options to older adults. Founded in 1955, PHS has grown significantly to become one of the largest nonprofit providers of senior housing and services in the United States. The organization operates over 60 affiliated senior living communities across Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, serving more than 41,800 older adults annually. In addition to housing, PHS extends its comprehensive care through Optage® home and community services and co-owns Genevive, the largest geriatric primary care practice in Minnesota. This extensive network exemplifies PHS's dedication to promoting independence, purposeful living, and overall well-being among the senior population.
Highland Path, a community within the PHS network, is currently seeking a Part Time Cook to join their team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults while working within a supportive, close-knit community. The work schedule for this position includes every other weekend, Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm. As a part-time role, this opportunity offers a starting hourly wage range of approximately $21.00 to $22.64, depending on qualifications and experience.
At PHS, the role of a Cook is not simply about food preparation—it is about enriching the dining experience through creating high-quality, nutritious, and visually appealing meals that meet strict regulations and standards. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering an exceptional dining experience that supports the health and satisfaction of community members. The organization’s faith-based values emphasize honoring God by enriching lives and touching hearts, fostering a culture driven by compassion, respect, and service.
The Cook position entails preparing meals that align with state and federal food-handling regulations as well as following established policies and procedures designed to maintain high standards of safety and quality. Candidates joining the team at Highland Path will be part of a mission-driven environment that prioritizes empowerment, education, and support for employees. This enables staff to utilize their talents fully and contribute to a vibrant ministry aimed at improving the lives of older adults.
PHS prides itself on a culture that welcomes and values diversity, ensuring a safe and inclusive space for residents, staff, volunteers, and guests alike. The organization highlights the importance of Christian ministry values, especially emphasizing love and grace, which guide every aspect of its service and engagement with the community.
This Part Time Cook role offers a meaningful opportunity for individuals who want to blend their culinary skills with a passion for service in a nurturing faith-based nonprofit setting. Employees benefit from a range of support and growth opportunities, including access to education assistance programs, employee assistance programs, and various health-related benefits for eligible employees. Through its comprehensive benefits packages and commitment to employee well-being, PHS aims to cultivate a workplace where every team member can thrive, contribute, and feel appreciated.
