PITT OHIO is currently looking to hire a Part Time Class A City Driver for its Portage, Michigan location. This role offers a flexible schedule, working Monday through Friday with an approximate start time of 11 AM and around six hours of work each day. Job Requirements
- Have two years of verifiable interstate driving experience or one year plus approved driving school diploma
- pass PITT OHIO driving test
- possess or obtain Haz-Mat and Tanker endorsement within 90 days except sprinter drivers
- hold one valid driver’s license from resident state
- no driving license suspension or revocation over 30 days in past 36 months
- no serious traffic violation citations or convictions in past 60 months
- no pattern of more than three vehicle violations in 36 months
- no more than one at-fault accident and two violations in 36 months
- pass DOT physical exam
- consent to pre-employment drug screen
- negative controlled substance and alcohol results from prior employers
- no refusal for drug or alcohol tests in last 3 years
- consent to a 10-year employment history check
- ability to read, write English, perform simple math
- at-will employment
- consent to use of driver-facing event recorders
Job Qualifications
- Have two years of verifiable interstate driving experience or one year plus a diploma from an approved driving school
- pass PITT OHIO driving test administered by an approved trainer
- possess or obtain Haz-Mat and Tanker endorsement within 90 days except sprinter truck drivers
- hold one valid driver’s license issued by resident state
- no record of driving license suspension or revocation over 30 days in the past 36 months
- no serious traffic violation citations or convictions in past 60 months
- no pattern of more than three motor vehicle violations in 36 months
- no more than one at-fault traffic accident and two violations in 36 months
- pass Department of Transportation physical exam
- consent to pre-employment drug screen and negative results for controlled substances and alcohol from prior employers
- no refusal to submit to alcohol or drug test in past 3 years
- consent to a 10-year work history check
- ability to read, write English and perform simple math
- consent to driver-facing event recorders usage
Job Duties
- Drives a commercial vehicle safely while picking up and delivering general freight
- load and unload trailer individually or with dockworkers' assistance
- use mechanical freight handling equipment when available
- perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying of freight
- secure freight using strapping or other methods
- inspect vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions
- comply with all Federal requirements for transportation of hazardous materials
- drive tractor/trailer following federal regulations and hours of service limitations
- maintain records for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver logs
- perform all duties in accordance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations
