Job Description
Marriott International is a renowned global hospitality company known for its commitment to delivering unparalleled guest experiences and fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. Among its wide array of premium properties, Gaylord Hotels stand out as unique destinations offering extraordinary environments, services, and programs designed to bring people together in memorable ways. The company values creativity, dedication, and heartfelt service from its STARs—employees who embody the spirit and culture of the brand by providing exceptional and thoughtful guest service.
Located at 1000 H St, Chula Vista, California, this part-time position within the Food and Beverage & Culinary category offers an hourly wage of $16.90 and includes the opportunity to earn tips. The role is classified as a non-management position, meaning it focuses on delivering frontline service and supporting operational workflows rather than overseeing a team.
The position entails more than the traditional role of serving food and beverages. It requires creating a memorable and unique experience for guests that goes beyond just food and drink. Those hired as Guest Service Experts are proactive in offering a wide range of service-oriented activities, ensuring that every interaction enhances the guest's overall experience. Whether setting tables, communicating with kitchen staff, engaging with guests through friendly and efficient service, or maintaining cleanliness and organization in work and storage areas, these experts seamlessly integrate guest transactions into the experience itself.
Success in this role depends on maintaining a safe work environment, adhering to company policies and procedures, upholding quality standards, and presenting a professional appearance and communication style. The nature of the work is physically active, including standing, walking, moving on uneven or slippery surfaces, reading and verifying menu information, and performing tasks involving lifting, carrying, pushing, and organizing items weighing less than 50 pounds without assistance. The position also requires flexibility in movements such as bending, squatting, twisting, stretching, and crouching. Performing these duties successfully ensures guest satisfaction and smooth hotel operations.
This role is ideal for individuals who have a high school diploma or GED and less than one year of related work experience. No supervisory experience or certifications are required to apply. The company strongly promotes equal opportunity employment and actively fosters a welcoming and accessible environment for all employees. Marriott International and Gaylord Hotels celebrate diversity and inclusion, taking pride in the fusion of cultures, talents, and experiences their associates bring.
Marriott International understands the importance of supporting employees' growth and lifelong learning. Joining Gaylord Hotels means becoming part of a dynamic hospitality family with endless career possibilities, providing opportunities, perks, and benefits all under one roof. Employees are empowered to deliver their best work, fulfill their purpose, and grow within a vibrant, global team. This position represents a chance to be part of a world-class team that values every member’s contribution and helps each individual become their best version through meaningful work and professional development opportunities.
