This opportunity is for the role of a Deli Bakery Associate at a Food Lion location in Savannah, Georgia. The position is based at Store 02682 Deli and involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the Deli Bakery Department. The primary purpose of this role is to deliver exceptional quality customer service while upholding stringent standards in accordance with the company’s standard practice manual. The associate plays a crucial part in maximizing sales by providing excellent customer service and reducing product shrinkage through the proper use of prescribed procedures.

As a Deli Bakery Associate, you will be expected to maintain an enthusiastic and customer-focused atmosphere, ensuring fast, friendly, and accurate service that enhances the shopper’s experience. You will also be responsible for understanding the detailed production standards, including ingredient usage, mixing, icing coordination, and processing of products in line with technical manuals. Maintaining sanitation and proper food handling within the department is paramount to safeguard health and safety. Additional duties include managing ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and merchandising of products while following all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.

The role requires strict adherence to Food Lion’s policies, guidelines, and dress code, including the wearing of the company uniform complete with apron and name badge. Associates use various company tools such as the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS) and Ordering system (CAO) to support operational efficiency. Successful completion of on-the-job training, including Computer-Based Training (CBT), training packets, and aids, is part of the role’s requirements. This position demands a commitment to workplace safety, including identifying and reporting unsafe conditions and accidents promptly. The Deli Bakery Associate is a vital member of the Food Lion team contributing to a positive shopping environment in a dynamic retail setting.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions
  • perform repetitive hand and arm motions
  • bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs on occasion
  • pull or push up to 75 lbs on occasion
  • stand 100% of the time, frequently walking short distances
  • be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials
  • frequent reaching and grasping at waist level: occasionally above shoulder or below waist level
  • meet established volume activity standards for the position
  • tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience
  • courteous and helpful to other associates
  • understand the use of ingredients, mixes, and icings and coordinates colors
  • understand production standards for processing of all product
  • follow all technical manuals for processing of product, label placement, etc
  • ensure proper sanitation of department, equipment and proper food handling/preparation
  • ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise is done in accordance with policies and guidelines
  • maintain a complete understanding of and adherence to company guidelines, policies and standard practice
  • understand and follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures
  • observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents
  • report all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established Food Lion procedures to the Manager on Duty
  • ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • wear the Food Lion uniform with apron, complete with name badge, when on duty, has a neat and clean appearance while adhering to the Food Lion dress code
  • understand and use company tools such as
  • average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO)
  • successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid courses
  • perform all other duties as assigned
