This role is centered on providing excellent customer service within the Deli Bakery Department. As a Deli associate at Food Lion, individuals play a crucial role in maintaining strict adherence to company standards and standard practice manuals, ensuring product quality and safety while maximizing sales through friendly and accurate customer interactions. The role requires a strong commitment to minimizing shrink through the proper use of standard operating procedures and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Candidates will be responsible for understanding production standards, proper sanitation, and food handling methods, as well as inventory control through ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to company policies.

The position demands a proactive approach to workplace safety and food safety, compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and reporting of accidents as per company protocols. Attire and appearance standards must be upheld at all times, including wearing the Food Lion uniform with an apron and name badge. Additionally, the role involves using company tools such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and computerized ordering systems (CAO) and completing necessary training courses such as computer-based training (CBT).

Ideal candidates are high school graduates or hold an equivalent qualification, coupled with excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills. The willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job is crucial. The job requires physical ability to perform repetitive hand and arm motions, bending, lifting products up to 50 pounds occasionally, pushing or pulling up to 75 pounds on occasion, standing throughout the shift, and tolerating varying temperature conditions. Candidates must be able to meet all established volume activity standards and handle cleaning and packaging substances.
