The primary purpose of this position is to ensure exceptional quality customer service and operational standards in the deli and bakery sections. The employee in this role will be responsible for maintaining compliance with standard practice manuals, maximizing sales through excellent customer interaction, and minimizing product shrink by leveraging proper standard practices. The ideal candidate should have a keen eye for detail and a passion for food service, ensuring that all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines are strictly adhered to.\n\nPrimary responsibilities include ensuring a fast, friendly, and accurate customer service experience, maintaining a sanitary and well-organized work environment, correctly processing products and applying labels following technical guidelines, and managing stock and displays according to company policies. This position also emphasizes teamwork and communication, requiring associates to work cooperatively with colleagues and assist whenever needed. Additionally, understanding and utilizing company tools such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and computerized ordering systems (CAO) are important aspects of the role. The position demands compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, wearing the company uniform neatly at all times, and active participation in ongoing training programs through Computer-Based Training (CBT) modules and training aids.\n\nThis job offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who are customer service-oriented, have a strong work ethic, and desire to develop their skills within the retail food industry. Job Duties
- Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience
- courteous and helpful to other associates
- understand the use of ingredients, mixes, and icings and coordinates colors
- understand production standards for processing of all product
- follow all technical manuals for processing of product, label placement, etc.
- ensure proper sanitation of department, equipment and proper food handling/preparation
- ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise is done in accordance with policies and guidelines
- maintain a complete understanding of and adherence to company guidelines, policies and standard practice
- understand and follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures
- observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents
- report all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established Food Lion procedures to the Manager on Duty
- ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
- wear the Food Lion uniform with apron, complete with name badge, when on duty, has a neat and clean appearance while adhering to the Food Lion dress code
- understand and use company tools such as average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO)
- successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid courses
- perform all other duties as assigned
