Job Description

Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its diverse portfolio of brands and commitment to exceptional guest experiences. One of its prestigious luxury brands, JW Marriott, exemplifies the company’s dedication to luxury, quality, and outstanding service. JW Marriott consists of more than 100 exquisite properties located in key gateway cities and distinctive resort destinations around the world. These hotels provide not just a high-end lodging experience but also an environment where both associates and guests feel valued and appreciated. The company places a strong emphasis on fostering a community among its associates, supporting their professional growth, personal well-being, and overall satisfaction. Marriott International actively promotes a culture of inclusivity and equal opportunity, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds and encouraging diversity within its workforce.

The role offered is that of a Guest Arrival Expert based in Des Moines, Iowa, at the JW Marriott hotel located at 700 Grand Ave. This part-time, non-management position is focused on creating exceptionally welcoming experiences for guests from the moment they arrive until their departure. As the very first point of contact, the Guest Arrival Expert plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the initial and final impressions guests receive are memorable, warm, and personalized. This objective is achieved by delivering a wide range of services that facilitate smooth and enjoyable arrival and departure processes. The position requires engaging directly with guests to manage operational needs, handle various guest requests, complete necessary reporting, and share valuable insights about the local area and hotel amenities. This approach is designed to make every transaction an integral part of the overall hospitality experience.

A major component of this role is a hands-on approach that involves significant physical activity, including standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and moving or lifting objects up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance. Attention to detail, adherence to company policies and safety standards, and maintaining professionalism in appearance and communications are critical success factors. The Guest Arrival Expert must embody Marriott’s values by contributing to a safe and welcoming environment, protecting company assets, and delivering service excellence consistently.

This position demands no prior work or supervisory experience, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to start their career in hospitality. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory, as Marriott International offers training and development that supports associates in acquiring the skills needed for success. The company’s culture encourages innovation, genuine hospitality, and continuous learning, allowing associates to thrive and grow personally and professionally. Through this role, associates become part of a global team dedicated to the art of hospitality and the company’s trademark promise of "Wonderful Hospitality. Always." By joining JW Marriott, individuals have the chance to be part of a luxury brand that truly values its employees and offers a supportive, dynamic work environment where they can be their best selves and build rewarding careers.
