The company prides itself on its commitment to safety, diversity, and employee development, providing comprehensive benefits that reflect its investment in workforce well-being and career growth.
This position is based in New York, NY, within the New York Main division. The job is a regular, full-time role classified under experienced Environmental Health and Safety professionals, with a salaried exempt status. The salary range for this opportunity is estimated between $120,000 and $200,000 annually. The role offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, financial benefits such as 401(k) plans, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, wellness benefits, a voluntary legal plan, identity theft protection, life insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability coverage.
The role of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager at Turner Construction involves partnering closely with EH&S and project teams to enforce compliance with company policies, safety programs, and regulatory requirements on a designated construction project. This position requires a proactive leader who can develop and deliver safety training, manage risk, and cultivate a culture of safety awareness and accountability at the project level. The EH&S Manager will lead safety efforts to ensure that all workers, including subcontractors and Turner Trade employees, adhere to strict safety standards and practices on-site. Responsibilities include assessing safety practices, identifying potential hazards, implementing corrective action plans, and collaborating with project leadership to enhance performance metrics and safety outcomes.
The EH&S Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining safe working conditions consistent with Federal, State, and local environmental health and safety regulations, as well as contractual obligations with project owners. This includes conducting safety audits, managing incident rates, overseeing preconstruction safety planning, and ensuring rigorous subcontractor compliance with OSHA standards. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership and communication skills, be adept at problem-solving, and have a demonstrated ability to work effectively within teams to foster professional relationships and promote safe behaviors.
Furthermore, the role requires travel within the geographic area of the business unit and access to reliable transportation. Physical demands may involve climbing stairs and ladders, using construction hoists, and performing various physical activities necessary for site safety oversight. The EH&S Manager will also be responsible for maintaining comprehensive records of safety activities, training attendance, and incident reports. Overall, this role is vital to Turner's commitment to operational excellence and the health and safety of all personnel working on construction projects. Turner is dedicated to equal opportunity employment and values diversity across race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, and veteran status.
