This role is based within the Transportation Practice of Michael Baker International, which is consistently recognized as a top 20 transportation firm. The company offers an integrated approach to transportation projects covering planning, design, permitting, construction management, and inspection services. Michael Baker International is renowned for its leadership in maintaining safe and efficient transportation infrastructures.

We are currently seeking an experienced Engineer/Project Manager to join our Transportation Engineering team in Santa Ana, California. This key position involves leading a multidisciplinary team in all phases of design and plan preparation for roadway, highway, and civil improvement projects for state, city, and county agencies. The successful candidate will oversee project execution to meet established objectives of scope, budget, and quality, while mentoring junior staff and fostering professional growth.

The Engineer/Project Manager will be responsible for client relationship management, proposal development, participation in industry interviews, and active engagement in professional organizations such as APWA and ASCE to maintain the company's visibility in the engineering community. They will collaborate with the Department Manager to develop targeted client service strategies tailored to the Southern California market, supporting the company’s strategic positioning and growth. The role balances office presence with remote work, supporting Michael Baker International’s culture of work-life balance.

Compensation for this role ranges from $120,000 to $190,000 annually, contingent on experience and expertise, with eligibility for discretionary bonuses based on corporate and individual performance. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • 7-10 years of transportation or public works experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California
  • Proven project delivery experience for government agencies
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Commitment to quality and financial excellence
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Job Qualifications
