Job Description

We are a multi-state and multi-discipline engineering firm specializing in a broad range of civil and transportation engineering services with offices located in Rutherford, Asbury Park NJ, NYC, and Salem, MA. Our company is proud to be expanding both our client base and our suite of offered services, focusing on fostering a collaborative culture that encourages professional growth and personal development. We place great emphasis on offering a supportive work environment paired with competitive compensation and benefits, allowing our engineering teams to work on interesting and challenging projects. Our industry presence across multiple states and disciplines highlights our commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients and communities. The firm operates with a forward-thinking approach toward sustainable infrastructure and innovative design, consistently aligned with regulatory standards and best practices in civil and transportation engineering.

The Project Manager - Traffic/Transportation (PE or EIT) role is tailored for experienced professionals who possess a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) credential or Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification. This position focuses on leading traffic and transportation engineering projects through all phases, from initial concept development to final construction. The ideal candidate will bring over four years of civil engineering and project management experience, particularly in highway and roadway design, zoning, and land development projects. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of traffic engineering principles, roadway geometric design, and effective stakeholder engagement including municipal and state transportation agencies.

They will serve as the principal contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships, and managing multidisciplinary teams comprising civil design engineers, site planners, zoning consultants, and other subconsultants. Additionally, the role demands proficiency in performing and overseeing advanced traffic engineering analyses such as capacity analyses, parking studies, traffic impact studies, signal warrants, and traffic signal timing optimization through state-of-the-art transportation modeling and microsimulation tools like HCS, SimTraffic, and Synchro.

Furthermore, this position involves preparing and approving a wide range of project deliverables such as engineering reports, permit applications, construction documents, and technical memoranda. Managing the permitting process by coordinating with municipal authorities and state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) to secure required approvals is critically important. Mentorship and technical guidance for engineering staff are integral to maintaining high standards and quality assurance throughout project lifecycles.

This role offers a salary range of $95,000 to $180,000 annually plus competitive benefits, reflecting the seniority and expertise required. The position also demands a valid driver’s license and willingness to participate in site visits and agency meetings as necessary. Our firm is committed to equal opportunity employment and values diversity across all organizational levels, welcoming applications from all qualified candidates who meet the requirements and qualifications for this critical leadership position in traffic and transportation engineering.
