Job Description
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is a renowned leader in advancing New York's energy transition, dedicated to environmental protection and expanding the state's economy through innovative clean energy solutions. With over 50 years of experience, NYSERDA has established itself as a credible, objective, and trusted partner in energy planning and technology deployment. The organization engages diverse stakeholders, including residents, business owners, developers, local government officials, universities, utilities, investors, and entrepreneurs, to foster a clean energy economy in New York State. NYSERDA focuses on attracting private sector capital investments, overcoming market barriers, and ensuring equitable benefits for communities and residents in the clean energy transition.
NYSERDA is currently seeking two highly motivated individuals to join their Technical Services team within the Clean and Resilient Buildings unit as a Project Manager, Project Manager II, or Senior Project Manager. This interdisciplinary team targets both public and private market sectors, aiming to increase the adoption of building energy efficiency and electrification across New York's built environment sectors. Programs like FlexTech and OnSite Energy Manager provide objective technical analysis to assist building owners in making informed investments towards electrified solutions.
The Project Manager role involves comprehensive management of project-related activities from concept to execution. Responsibilities include project management, reporting, budgeting, contract oversight, and stakeholder relationship management. The role also supports planning and developing market interventions to overcome barriers, encourage private capital investment, and accelerate the scale of clean energy adoption. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, possess strong stakeholder engagement skills, exhibit attention to detail, and demonstrate an internal drive to meet team goals. Experience with multiple customer sectors and insights into capital investment decision-making and operational improvements is highly valued. Prior exposure to building performance and capital investments, particularly in hospital or industrial sectors, is considered a strong advantage.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to New York's clean energy future by managing innovative projects that promote building decarbonization. Candidates will represent NYSERDA at various events, coordinate with numerous internal and external partners, and develop impactful strategies to leverage market opportunities. The role demands excellent analytical skills to conduct cost-benefit analyses, develop solicitations, and optimize program interventions for maximum effectiveness. Working collaboratively with NYSERDA teams across Albany, Buffalo, and New York City, the Project Manager will ensure all activities comply with procurement policies and uphold the organization’s values of fairness, respect, and inclusion.
